Academics at Carthage

Division of Education

The Division of Education represents a unity of a liberal arts education with a professional career. This orientation is compatible with Carthage's mission and goals, especially those of transmitting the concepts of human heritage, personal satisfaction and service to society. Licensure programs are offered in Middle Childhood/Early Adolescent (ages 6-13), Cross-Categorical Special Education, Early Adolescent/Adolescent (ages 10-21), Athletic Training, Athletic Coaching, as well as Special Fields (Grades K-12) in Physical Education and Music. Details of each program, as well as those for teaching licensed academic majors and minors, are presented in the separate areas of the Academic Departments within each Division.

The Education Division also offers an emphasis in Recreation Sport and Fitness Management. This program emphasizes our commitment to the service to society, preparing our graduates for careers in such diverse areas as community park and recreation departments and geriatric facilities.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to the preparation of outstanding professional people who will be the future leaders in their communities. Thus, we serve the interests of our students and their constituent entities within the framework of Carthage's mission.
