General Information

I. As of the 1995-96 catalog

A. All students must enroll in J-Term their freshman year and take at least one additional J-Term course.

B. Courses offered during the J-Term carry four (4) credits, unless otherwise specified.

II. Grading

A. All on-campus courses, some off-campus courses,  and Independent Studies undertaken in J-Term are graded as follows: each student, at the completion of the course, is assigned one of the following letter symbols: A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D- for passing grades.

I = Incomplete (given only in special cases of illness or some other uncontrollable factor)

W = Official Withdrawal

F = Failure or Unofficial Withdrawal

S or U when indicated in this catalog.

B. Some off-campus courses are graded as follows: students are assigned a grade of Satisfactory "S" or Unsatisfactory "U" at the conclusion of J-Term. Grades of "S" or "U" do not affect the grade point average. A "U" appears on the transcript as an unsuccessful completion of J-Term.

Tuition and Fees

I. Carthage Students

A. Students who are enrolled for the academic year pay no additional tuition during the J-Term.

B. Off-Campus Study Tours:
Deposit at time of registration . . . . . . . . . $100.00 (non-refundable)
Balance due December 11, 2007. (Check with instructor of your tour for specific date, but no later than December 11, 2007)

II. Special/Part-Time Students

A. Students from other colleges or universities:
Tuition 4 credits . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..$1,500.00

B. Students living on-campus during J-Term:
Room and Board (if available; 50 block meals). . . . . . . . . $1,100.00 .

Withdrawals and Refunds

The last day for withdrawal from J-Term without penalty of an "F" or "U" grade is Thursday, January 10, 2008.

  1. If a student registers for J-Term and then withdraws, no refund will be made after noon of the third day of class.
  2. The instructor determines refunds for students taking off-campus study tours
