Business Scholarship Application

The Carthage business department offers one full-tuition (worth a total of approximately $125,000 over four years) and two $20,000 per-year renewable scholarships to high school seniors who have been accepted to Carthage, demonstrate ability in business, and show commitment to the values embodied by a liberal arts education. These scholarships incorporate all Carthage assistance.

Business Scholarship candidates are selected from those students who are admitted to Carthage, who plan to major in accounting, finance, management or marketing, and who have submitted the Business Scholarship application and required documents, postmarked or submitted online no later than December 3, 2011.

Qualified scholarship applicants will be notified in early January 2012. If you are selected to compete, you and your family will be invited to attend the Business Scholarship Competition on March 3, 2012. Competing students will be required to take a comprehensive examination the day of the competition.

The day will be filled with exciting activities. You’ll have candid discussions with current Carthage business students. You’ll learn about short-term and semester-long study abroad programs available to you and how they can impact your education and career preparation. Carthage alumni will also share their experiences and insights.

In Carthage business courses, students enhance their ability and cultivate their enthusiasm to work in the dynamic global conditions of the 21st century. The choice of majors within the business administration department allows students to tailor their education to their interests, while preparing for a variety of careers in both the public and private sectors. Carthage offers the following four majors:

At Carthage, students choose a specific major in business while studying a common foundation in accounting, economics, functional business areas and management.

In addition to the common foundation and specific major courses, nearly 60 percent of their education comes from a wide variety of liberal arts areas including fine arts, foreign language, history, natural sciences, philosophy, psychology, and religion. This approach to education gives our graduates a wide knowledge base for evaluating new ideas, and refines their writing, speaking and critical thinking skills in a variety of contexts to prepare them for the coming changes they will face over the course of their careers.
