The Carthage commitment to scholars extends beyond the 30 scholarships in the Presidential Scholarship Program. Top students typically receive a substantial package of multiple no-need awards, ranging from $5,000 to $11,000, or more. Many qualify for additional need-based assistance, making Carthage quite affordable.
Carthage Honors Program and Presidential Scholarship Program candidates are selected from among students who are admitted to Carthage and who have submitted the separate Presidential Scholarship Application, along with the required personal statement, postmarked or submitted online no later than December 3, 2011.
The Office of Admissions screens applications and identifies candidates most suitable for the Honors Program and for the Presidential Scholarship Program. The College notifies these students in January and invites them to campus in January, February or March for one of seven Carthage Scholars Days, offering a unique opportunity to interact with Carthage faculty, potential classmates, and Carthage Honors students, while competing in the Presidential Scholarship Program.
During the campus visit, prospective Presidential Scholars will have a conversation with two faculty/staff members and/or complete an essay. Parents are invited to an interactive session to learn more about the benefits of a Carthage education.
You must submit your application for admission and supporting materials including high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores (we accept either test) to Carthage by December 3, 2011, to be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship Program.
The Presidential Scholarships may incorporate all Carthage assistance.
