Resources for Students

Students enrolled in the Adult Education Program have access to all Carthage resources and facilities, including private tutoring, state-of-the-art computer labs, the library, Career Services, and the fitness and recreational opportunities offered by the N.E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.

Individual Academic Advisors

Each student has a personal academic advisor who helps select appropriate courses, answers questions, and assists with any college-related need. At Carthage, questions and concerns are quickly turned into answers and solutions.

Private Tutoring

Carthage's Tutoring Center provides free individual assistance to all students. Trained tutors may be contacted in person, by phone or by e-mail (available during the fall and spring terms).

Hedberg Library

Hedberg Library unites a 127,000-volume collection with online electronic resources, academic computing services, electronic classrooms, a media and technology suite for video and audio production and presentations, and a 24-hour cyber café, featuring a stone fireplace, club chairs, Einstein Bros. bagels, and Freshëns yogurt and smoothies.

MyCarthage Resource Center / Library Help Desk

Not sure how to find what you're looking for in the library? Have a question about Blackboard, e-mail, or your computer? The Library Help Desk provides answers to frequent questions through an online Knowledgebase, and can answer individual questions by e-mail, phone or in person. Call (262) 551-5950 or stop by.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center is a free resource available to all members of the Carthage community. Writing Fellows provide help in choosing topics, formulating a thesis statement, organizing your thoughts, or polishing your final draft.

Career Services

Adult Education students and their families have full access to Career Services, located in the heart of campus in Lentz Hall. The Career Services staff assists students with updating resumes, providing counsel for job advancement, helping with a job search, and guidance with graduate school selection and application.

Computer Centers

Students have access to computer labs throughout campus. Students are all issued personal e-mail addresses, and can access the Internet anywhere on campus. Laptop computers are available for check-out from Hedberg Library.

Books and Course Materials

Books can be ordered online directly from the campus bookstore. If you’d rather visit the bookstore in person, it is located on the first floor of Lentz Hall. Students should purchase their text books and other required materials at least two weeks prior to the beginning of each term.

eRacer Technology

Your course materials can be accessed on the Web using eRacer (password required) two weeks before the beginning of each term. Weekly assignments are outlined on eRacer, including work to be completed before the first week of class. This way, students arrive at the first class meeting prepared to engage in interactive and collaborative learning.

Hybrid Courses

Select courses will be offered in a "hybrid" format — combining face-to-face class sessions with online learning opportunities.

TARC

The 156,000-square-foot N.E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center includes a 40-meter, 16-lane swimming pool, indoor rock-climbing wall, 200-meter indoor track, 5,000-square-foot fitness center, baseball practice area, racquetball courts and multi-purpose courts for basketball, volleyball, and tennis.

Dining

Want to grab a bite on campus before class? Carthage offers many different dining options. There is a Starbucks in the A.W. Clausen Center for World Business. Find Einstein Bros. Bagels and Freshëns frozen yogurt in Hedberg Library. The Student Union offers Jamba Juice, Seattle's Best Coffee, World of Wings, and Baja Fresh. The campus cafeteria is located in the Todd Wehr Center.
