No network software is needed to access the Carthage network. Below is information needed to perform setup yourself.
  • All residence hall room jacks are live, and all are ethernet
  • Wireless access is available in most campus locations. Information needed for wireless setup is available upon request to registered students.
  • DHCP is used to obtain IP numbers (instructions are available)
  • NETREG is used, so authentication is required using your Novell user id and password in order to gain access to the network and internet
  • Your connections must NOT be bridged in your Network control panel
  • Hubs are needed in most regular residence hall rooms to connect two or more computers; one balun also is needed in each of these rooms. Click here for pricing on these items.

Students wishing to avoid the issues explained above are encouraged to lease a laptop through the Laptop Lease Program.
