Resolving or reporting a connectivity problem

If you have a problem connecting in your room, please do the following:

  1. Make sure your room is not on the turned off rooms list. If it is, click here to learn about certification.
  2. If you are using a hub, click here to read about how to properly connect it.
  3. Read these instructions on how to configure your connection.
  4. Check all of your physical connections to make sure that they are plugged in properly and tightly.
  5. If you are in a residence hall, read these instructions about NetReg and how to register your computer.
  6. If you are trying to connect wirelessly, make sure you have contacted the Information Desk in Hedberg Library to get the proper SSID (Network Name)
  7. Try the steps listed in this troubleshooting guide.
  8. Make sure your computer meets the requirements listed here.
  9. Make sure you have our Symantec anti-virus software, that definitions are up-to-date, and that you have no viruses on your computer.
  10. Restart your computer.

If none of the above work, contact the Hedberg Library Information Desk at 262-551-5950. Note that we do not make "house calls" except in extreme conditions, and those may take up to two business days.
