Michael G. Love
Head of Media Services

As Head of Media Services, Michael manages all audio-visual and related media equipment and activities for classroom instruction. He also coordinates and keeps the Lentz Hall Media Classroom, the Lentz Hall 200 Videoconferencing Lab, the Franklin I. and Irene List Saemann Curriculum Resource Center, the Niemann Media Theater and the electronic classrooms in Hedberg Library in working order. He joined Carthage in June 1997.

The Head of Media Services reports to the Vice President for Academic Information Services. He in turn oversees the Media staff within Academic Information Services.

As the Carthage representative to the Southeastern Wisconsin Instructional Network Group (SWING) distance learning consortium, Michael sits on the SWING Executive Board, Programming Committee and Technical Committee. During the 2001-2002 academic year, he was President of SWING.

Michael completed his undergraduate program at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Prior to joining Carthage, Michael spent twenty years in television programming and production. He served as Operations Manager for the Kenosha, Wisconsin, office of Jones Intercable from 1989 to 1996. In this role, he managed financial activities and all local television programming for cable television systems throughout Wisconsin. From 1984 to 1989, Michael designed and built local TV studios, and launched the local cable programming presence in Kenosha, both Local Origination and Community Access, as the Program Manager for Jones Intercable in Kenosha. He has also taught at Gateway Technical College, in Kenosha, since 1986.

In conjunction with Eugene Engeldinger and other AIS staff, Michael has made presentations at several regional and national conferences including Computers on Campus , Educause and ACRL.

In his free time, Mike is very involved with his family, including trying to keep up with his six children.
