| General Instructions for hooking
up a laptop to a data projector For specific room or library checkout equipment please click on a link to the left. |
|
| These instructions are for general use. Rooms equipped with data projectors should have instructions placed on the top of the equipment rack. If you have an important presentation, you may want to schedule a quick tutorial with a member of media services. You may do this by sending us an email to av@carthage.edu | |
| Step 1. Boot up your laptop completely before connecting the VGA cable. (Mac users can go ahead and plug right in and go to step 2) | |
| Step 2. Turn on the data projector. You will have to select the correct input on the dataprojector. If this is a checkout projector from the library go ahead and plug in the VGA cable. Most data projectors remotes have several inputs, such as computer, video, or s-video. Make sure that the imput is on the computer setting. | ![]() |
Step 3. You will now have to send the signal from your laptop to the data projector by pressing the function (Fn) key and one of your keys from F3 through F8, depending on your laptop model. The following list may help: IBM Thinkpad: Fn and F7 |
|
Step 4: If all else fails, plug in the VGA cable to your laptop before booting up. However, you must always select the correct input on the dataprojector to get an image. |
