How to Cite Your Sources
Anytime you refer to another writer's works or ideas, you need to acknowledge, or cite them. How you cite your sources depends on what kind of paper you are writing. The most common citation styles are MLA and APA Style.
 
Style Guides

MLA Style Guide (Modern Languages Association)
This comprehensive guide begins with a section on how to cite sources from the internet.
Use this style if you are writing a paper in English, Heritage, or other Humanities class.

Research papers in MLA style
This site comes highly recommended by our own writing fellow, Dana Wallace.

APA Style Guide (American Psychological Association)
This comprehensive guide begins with a section on how to cite sources from the internet.
Use this style if you are writing a paper for a Psychology or other Social Science class.

FAQs about APA Style
A clear guide to the most frequently asked questions about APA style, this site tells you how to put together the bibliography, cite an interview, and provides links to other hard-to-find answers.

Chicago Style Guide
A guide to using Chicago style, including how to cite online sources.  This is the preferred style for History papers.

Turabian Style Guide
At Carthage, this is the style preferred by Prof. Roberg.
A modified form of Chicago style, Turabian is the style of choice for political science.
