Alumni Association Scholarship

The Carthage Alumni Council voted to establish an Alumni Association scholarship at its December 1997 meeting. This scholarship began as $500 awarded exclusively to children or grandchildren of Carthage alumni. This funding is in addition to the $1,000 grant given to all children of Carthage graduates. The first scholarships were awarded to one member from each class in the fall of 1999. This amount has increased to two scholarships totaling $1,500 each and may be increased or decreased at the discretion of the Alumni Council.

The scholarship is funded through alumni travel, gift and credit card programs. Alumni are also provided with the opportunity to contribute to the scholarship through the annual fund drive.

To apply, the applicant must be a direct relative of a graduate (ex: parents, siblings, aunts/uncles, grandparents, and/or cousins) and answer the essay question, "What Carthage memories or traditions did you learn about from your relative(s) that influenced your decision to apply to Carthage?" Please include your name at the top of the essay.

In addition, it is requested that each applicant please include the names of any relatives that attended Carthage (parents, aunts/uncles, grandparents, siblings, cousins, etc.), as it is very interesting and exciting to see how the Carthage tradition has continued through generations. We also use this information to ensure that our records are correct. This information will not influence the scholarship competition, and will only be shown to the scholarship committee once the winner(s) have been selected.

To compete, admitted students must submit the required Alumni Association Scholarship materials (essay and information about relatives that attended Carthage) postmarked no later than January 24, 2008. This information can be mailed to:

Attn: Alumni Association Scholarship Committee
Carthage Alumni Association
2001 Alford Park Drive
Kenosha WI 53140

The Alumni Council Scholarship Committee will review all of the essays at their February meeting. They will be numbered and all names will be deleted to ensure confidential voting. When the winners are selected, the Alumni Director will notify the Office of Admissions and award letters will be sent.

Best of luck to all Alumni Scholarship Applicants!
