Feb. 2-March 16, 2012
Opening reception: 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16

This exhibit will feature the works of four artists of Mexican/Chicano heritage who share a strong cultural vision. Works in painting, drawing, photography, and installation highlight how identity, gender, family, community and political issues can generate images or objects of beauty, reveal cultural misrepresentations, and elicit deep emotional response from the viewer.
About 30 works by Ricardo Gonzalez, Salvador Jimenez, Xavier Tavera and Maria Tomasula will be featured, including a new work by Mr. Jimenez created especially for this exhibit.
The exhibit is planned to coordinate with the Kenosha Big Read, co-sponsored by the Hedberg Library at Carthage College. This event, "Sun, Stone and Shadows: 20 Great Mexican Short Stories," will be held inĀ March 2012. This exhibit offers a highly visual compliment to the literary riches to be found in theses short stories.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 6-8 p.m. Thursday evenings, and 1-4 p.m. Saturdays. There will be an opening reception from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16.
