Children's author Laura Numeroff visits Carthage

The Center for Children's Literature at Carthage hosted best-selling children's book author Laura Numeroff on Sunday, Sept. 20. Ms. Numeroff read from her popular stories, signed copies of her books, and spoke at a Tea and Conversation event.

Ms. Numeroff has published more than 30 children's books including the popular "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" series. Her other books include "What Mommies Do Best/What Daddies Do Best," "Two for Stew," "Dogs Don't Wear Sneakers," "When Sheep Sleep," "The Chicken Sisters," "Beatrice Doesn't Want To," and "Laura Numeroff's 10 Step Guide to Living With Your Monster."

She is currently on a book tour to promote two new books, "Would I Trade My Parents?" and "What Brothers/Sisters Do Best."

Children and their parents packed the Niemann Media Theatre in Hedberg Library for the reading and book signing. Ms. Numeroff read from "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," and her two new books. She also answered questions from the audience about her favorite books as a child ("Stuart Little" by E.B. White and "Eloise" by Kay Thompson), her first book ("Amy for Short"), and her writing process. The Tea and Conversation Event followed the book signing.
