Asian Studies

Requirements

Carthage offers a major and minor in Asian Studies.

Please note: Current students should follow the printed version of the College Catalog, and work with their advisors and the department chair to ensure all requirements are met.

The Asian Studies Major

The Asian Studies major consists of 40 credits:

16 credits in a single Asian language
ASN 4000 Senior Seminar in Asian Studies — 4 credits
HIS 1200 Issues in Asian History — 4 credits
Four additional courses from the list below, or approved by the Director of Asian Studies

A further requirement is that the courses, other than the Senior Thesis, must be drawn from at least four different academic departments.

The Asian Studies Minor

The minor consists of six 4-credit courses. Students are required to take HIS 1200: Issues in Asian History, and five other courses from the list below. These six courses must be from at least three departments. Students may choose their other courses from among the following:
