Carthage Softball Field
Dimensions: 190-left, 210-center, 190-right
When Carthage played host to Millikin University on April 5, 1997, the game marked the opening of the College's first-ever on-campus field. The Carthage Softball Field, located on the campus’ northwest corner along Sheridan Road, features permanent fencing, dugouts, bleacher seating for 100 spectators and an infield tarpaulin. Prior to 1997, the softball team played its games in various Kenosha city parks, including Columbus Park and Peorio Park.
The McNamara Indoor Baseball/Softball Facility
Opened in January 2002 within the new Tarble Athletic and
Recreation Center, the McNamara Indoor Baseball/Softball
Facility features three indoor batting cages, a large
soft-toss and hitting-tee area and space for pitchers and
catchers to throw. The facility has a full, AstroTurf©
flooring, as well as its own sound system. The indoor
facility was made possible by a gift from Jim and Oralee
McNamara. Two members of the McNamara family played
professional baseball. Jim McNamara, ’62, graduated from
Carthage at the time that the College offered course work
in the Chicago-Milwaukee area to members of the military.
After completing a military career as an officer in the
United States Army, Jim became a real estate developer in
Orange County, Calif.
