Men's Track & Field Fifth Third at CCIW Outdoor Championship

The Carthage College men’s track and field team (51-22 outdoor record) finished third at the Friday-Saturday, May 2-3 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Track & Field Championship at North Park University’s Holmgren Athletic Complex in Chicago.  Augustana College (Ill.) won its 15th league championship with 238.50 points, followed by North Central College second at 218, Carthage third at 123.50, Illinois Wesleyan University fourth at 89, Wheaton College (Ill.) fifth at 76, Millikin University sixth at 30, North Park University seventh at 25 and Elmhurst College eighth with 17 points. 

Carthage collected first-place finishes from Tylor Lewis in the 800-meter run (1:56.11), Buzzy Brown in the long jump (23-4), Prentis Wilbourn in the triple jump (45-10 ¾) and Kenton Rauwerdink in the decathlon (6,104 points).  Shaun Jozwiak was second in the discus (144-3) and third in the shot put (48-10 ½).  Jon Kochmit finished second in the hammer throw (167-3 ½), as did Spencer Williams in the shot put (49-6 ½).  Michael White was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:21.99), as was Nate Hughes in the javelin (180-1 ½).  Carthage travels to Naperville, Ill., on Friday, May 9 for the North Central College “Dr. Keeler Invitational” at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, beginning at 3 p.m.
