2008:  Finished third in the 1,650 freestyle (16:23.56), sixth in the 500 freestyle (4:46.48) and eighth in the 200 butterfly (2:01.65) at the CCIW Swimming Championship.

2007:  Finished 12th in the 1,650 freestyle (CCIW open and Carthage-record 15:49.21) at the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming Championship and named College Swimming Coaches Association of America honorable mention All-America…finished 27th in the NCAA 200 butterfly and 29th in the 500 freestyle…set a CCIW open and Carthage record in the 1,000-freestyle  (9:35.69) at the NCAA championship…won the 1,650 freestyle (CCIW championship-record 15:59.43) at the CCIW Swimming Championship, while finishing second in the 500 freestyle (4:40.69) and third in the 200 butterfly (1:58.21)…won the 1,650 freestyle at the Wisconsin Private College Championship…set a Carthage record in the 200 butterfly (1:54.69) at the Dec. 1-2 TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic…set a Carthage record in the 1,000 freestyle (9:41.35) versus the University of Chicago and Wheaton (Ill.) on Jan. 20.

2006:  Finished 14th in the NCAA Division III 1,650 freestyle with a Carthage-record time of  16:00.39 and named College Swimming Coaches Association of America honorable mention All-America…won both the 500 freestyle (4:38.45) and the 1,650 freestyle (Carthage-record 16:10.58) at the CCIW Swimming championship, while finishing third in the 200 butterfly (1:55.68)…named CCIW Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Jan. 9…also set Carthage records in the 200 butterfly (1:54.94 in the NCAA preliminaries) and the 1,000 freestyle (9:44.24 as part of the NCAA 1,650 freestyle).

High School:  His high school did not sponsor varsity swimming…won the 1,650 freestyle at the Illinois Senior meet…finished 23rd in the 1,650 freestyle and 26th in the 200 butterfly at the YMCA National Swimming Championship short course…finished 8th in the 800 freestyle, ninth in the 200 butterfly and 13th in the 1,500 freestyle in the YMCA long course …club coach was Greg Lake…National Honor Society member, Illinois State Scholar and honor student.

Personal:  Biology major…named spring 2007 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine second-team District 5 all-academic…named winter 2007 CCIW “Jack Swartz All-Academic”…named to the Carthage dean’s list four times and a four-time member of the Carthage athletic director’s honor roll…son of Mike and Lesley Pelka and brother of Michelle Pelka, a sophomore on the 2008-09 Carthage women’s swimming team…born Oct. 28, 1986.
