Amy Gillmore begins her 11th year as head coach in 2009 (237-166, 11 years). She was named CCIW "Softball Coach of the Year" in 1998, her first season as head coach. A standout shortstop for Carthage from 1992 to 1994, Gillmore was a three-time All-CCIW selection. She ranks among Carthage career leaders in batting average, hits, runs scored, RBI, doubles, triples, bases on balls, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Gillmore attended Westosha Central High School in Salem, Wis. After graduating from Carthage in 1994 with a bachelor’s in exercise and sport science and special education, Gillmore served as head softball coach, assistant girl’s basketball coach and girl’s athletic director at Kenosha St. Joseph High School. In softball, she compiled a 43-16 record over three seasons with three “final four” appearances in the Wisconsin Independent School Athletic Association softball championship. Gillmore received her master’s in classroom guidance and counseling from Carthage in 2004.

Liz Pumala, formerly Liz Nelson, begins her fifth season as a part-time assistant coach in 2009 after a four-year pitching career with the Lady Reds (1998-2001). A native of Zion, Ill., Pumala finished her Carthage career ranked fourth all-time in wins (31), fourth in earned run average (2.75), third in innings pitched (381.1), third in strikeouts (189), fourth in complete games (45) and fifth in shutouts (8). She threw a perfect game against Lakeland College on April 20, 2001. Pumala graduated from Carthage in 2001 with a bachelor’s in exercise and sport science, and she teaches adaptive physical education at the Laremont School in Gurnee, Ill.
Dave Rivera begins his 12th season as a part-time assistant coach in 2009 after serving as Amy Gillmore's assistant at Kenosha St. Joseph High School from 1995 to 1997. From Kenosha, Wis., Rivera attended Kenosha Tremper High School and received his bachelor's in international studies from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 1993. He is currently a human resources manager for Spherion in Lake Bluff, Ill.
Rebecca Slye begins her fourth year as a part-time assistant coach in 2009. A native of Appleton, Wis., Slye lettered four times as a Carthage second baseman between 2002 and 2005. Slye graduated from Carthage in 2005 with a bachelor’s in elementary education and special education, and and she teaches at the Laremont School in Gurnee, Ill.
