Sue Nutty begins her 17th year as head coach for the Carthage women's swimming team in 2008-09 (111-57-1 dual-meet record, 16 years). She coached the Carthage men's team for 10 years, from 1992-2001, with Greg Earhart taking over men's coaching duties in 2002.
A native of Omaha, Neb., Nutty was a backstroker at the University of Wyoming and graduated in 1977 with a bachelor's in physical education and music. She received her master's in sports administration from Eastern Kentucky University in 1980. Before taking over a dormant Carthage swimming program in 1992, Nutty spent eight years as head coach at Centre College and three years as an assistant coach at Bowling Green State University.
At Carthage, Nutty has coached six individual CCIW champions, in either men’s or women’s swimming, along with 22 All-CCIW honorees. The all-time winningest coach in Carthage history, she was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's "Women's Swimming Coach of the Year" in 1998, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
Success for Carthage swimming has extended well beyond the pool deck. Under Nutty's direction, nine swimmers have been named to the CCIW All-Academic team. More impressively, the women's team has earned College Swimming Coaches Association Academic All-American honors every semester since the fall of 1993. “I believe very strongly in the NCAA Division III athletic philosophy and the small college environment,” says Nutty. “Carthage offers outstanding academics and a high-quality athletic program.”

A native Niskayuna, N.Y., Korman graduated from Kenyon in 2006 with a bachelor’s in economics. Though new to the Red Men and Lady Reds, Korman is no stranger to Carthage, having spent four years as an assistant to Carthage head coach Greg Earhart at the Total Performance Swim Camps in Kenosha, Wis.
