Carthage Baseball FieldDimensions: 335-left, 400-center, 335-right The Carthage Baseball Field has been a part of the campus since the 1967 season. Improvements in the late 1980s and early 1990s included permanent fencing, dugouts and hitting cages. New seating for 600 fans, with molded-plastic seat backs and wheelchair access, was installed at the Carthage baseball field in summer 1996, an infield tarpaulin was purchased prior to the 2000 season and the playing field was completely re-done in the summer of 2002 along with installation of a drainage and irrigation system. Future plans call for installation of lights, a press box, a concession stand, storage areas and a plaza-type entrance.
The McNamara Indoor Baseball/Softball FacilityOpened in January 2002 within the new Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center, the McNamara Indoor Baseball/Softball Facility features three indoor batting cages, a large soft-toss and hitting-tee area and space for pitchers and catchers to throw. The facility has a full, AstroTurf© flooring, as well as its own sound system. The indoor facility was made possible by a gift from Jim and Oralee McNamara. Two members of the McNamara family played professional baseball. Jim McNamara, 62, graduated from Carthage at the time that the College offered course work in the Chicago-Milwaukee area to members of the military. After completing a military career as an officer in the United States Army, Jim became a real estate developer in Orange County, Calif. |
