2008 Men’s Golf Travel Information

March 14-15 at the Millikin Opener:  The Millikin Opener will be played at the Oak Terrace Resort in Pana, Ill.  To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago and exit at I-55 south.  In Bloomington, Ill., exit I-55 at U.S. 51 south to Decatur, Ill.  Exit U.S. 51 at I-72 west to go around Decatur.  On the south side of town, exit I-72 at U.S. 51 south to Pana, which is 35 miles south of Decatur.  Alternatively, continue on I-55 south in Bloomington and exit at Illinois Highway 29 near Springfield, Ill.  Pana is 40 miles southeast of Springfield.  Once in Pana, follow U.S. 51 south of downtown and turn left at 800 N Road/Beyers Lake Road.  Turn right at 355 Road East/Beyers Lake Road to reach the resort.

 

Spring Trip to Phoenix, Ariz:  Carthage will travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for its 2008 spring trip.  The Red Men will play Millikin University on March 19.

 

March 28-29 at the Knox Invitational:  The Knox College “Prairie Fire Invitational” will be played at the Soangetaha Country Club on Lake Rice in Galesburg, Ill. (309-342-5410).  To reach that course, follow I-294 south around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-88 west (East-West Tollway).  Exit I-88 at I-74 south and follow for 30 miles to Galesburg.  Exit I-74 at the second Galesburg exit.  Turn left off the ramp, and take the next left to Soangetaha. 

 

April 6-7 at the Loras Invitational:  The Loras College Invitational will be played at the Meadows Golf Course in Dubuque, Iowa (15766 Clover Lane, 563-583-7385 ) on April 6 and at the Thunder Hill Country Club in Peosta, Iowa on April 7.  To reach Meadows Golf Course facility, take Wisconsin Highway 50 west from Kenosha to Lake Geneva.  In Lake Geneva, take U.S. Highway 12 to I-43 and follow I-43 into Beloit (I-43 becomes Milwaukee Road in Beloit).  Follow Wisconsin Highways 81/11 west to Monroe, Wis., where the two road split.  Stay on Highway 11 west toward Dubuque, Iowa.  Just east of the Mississippi River, Highway 11 ends at U.S. Highway 61.  Follow Highway 61 south across the Mississippi River into downtown Dubuque.  In downtown, follow U.S. 20 west out of town.  Turn right at Northwest Arterial Road and turn left as Asbury Road to reach the course.  To reach the Thunder Hill Country Club, follow U.S. 20 west from Dubuque for 16 miles.  In Peosta, turn right at Thunder Hills road to reach the course.

 

April 11-12 at the Augustana (Ill.) Invitational:  The Augustana College (Ill.) Invitational will be played at the Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. (309-787-5814).  To reach that course, follow either I-88 or I-80 west from Chicago and go around Moline and Rock Island on I-74/I-280 west.  Take Exit 11 off I-74/280, Illinois Highway 92 (Centennial Expressway) south toward Andalusia.  Exit 11 is the last exit before crossing the Mississippi River.  Go through one stop light on Highway 92.  The course is at the top of the next hill on the right.  Exit I-74 at I-280 west. 

 

April 18-19 at the CCIW Men’s Golf Championship I:  The first two rounds of the 2008 CCIW Men’s Golf Championship will be played at Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, Ill.  To reach that course, follow I-294 around Chicago.  Exit I-294 at I-55 south.  Exit I-55 at Weber Road north.  Turn left at Rodeo Drive to reach the course.

 

April 20-21 at the Carroll (Wis.) Invitational:  The Carroll (Wis.) Invitational will be played at two courses, the Broadlands Golf Course in North Prairie, Wis., on April 20 and at Bristlecone Pines Golf Club in Hartland, Wis., on April 21.  To reach Broadlands Golf Course, take I-94 toward Milwaukee.  Exit I-94 at I-894 around Milwaukee and exit I904 at I-94 west.  Exit I-94 at Wisconsin Highway 83 (the Wales/Hartland exit).  Follow Highway 83 south four and one-half miles.  Turn right on County Road E and follow for another four and one-half miles.  Turn right on Wisconsin Highway 59 and follow a half-mile to the Broadlands Golf Club entrance on your right.  To reach Bristlecone Pines Golf Club, take I-94 toward Milwaukee.  Exit I-94 at I-894 around Milwaukee and exit I904 at I-94 west.  Exit I-94 at Wisconsin Highway 16 toward Pewaukee.  Exit Highway 16 at exit 184, KE/Jungbluth Road and go one-quarter mile to reach the course.

 

April 22 at the Carthage Invitational:  The Carthage Invitational will be played at the Kenosha Country Club in Somers, Wis.  To reach that facility from Carthage, follow Wisconsin Highway 32 north from campus.  Turn left at County Road A, and turn right on 13th Avenue.  The entrance to the country club is on the left.

 

April 26 at the Lawrence Invitational:  The Lawrence Invitational will be played at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Hortonville, Wis.  To reach that facility, follow I-94 to Milwaukee, Wis.  Exit I-94 at I-894.  Exit I-894 at U.S. Highway 41.  Follow U.S. 41 to Appleton, Wis. and exit at Wisconsin Avenue west (Wisconsin Highway 96).  Follow Highway 76 for two miles and turn right at County Road O.  Take an immediate left on Market Road to reach the golf course.

 

April 28 at the Wisconsin-Parkside “American Family Invitational”:  The Wisconsin-Parkside “American Family Invitational” will be played at the Meadowbrook Country Club (2149 N. Green Bay Road, 262-637-7461) in Racine, Wis.  To reach that facility from Carthage, go north on Alford Park Drive, turn left at Kenosha County Road E and turn right at Green Bay Road.  Follow Green Bay Road into and north of Racine.

 

May 2-3 at the CCIW Men’s Golf Championship II:  The final two rounds of the 2008 CCIW Men’s Golf Championship will be played at the Cantigny Golf Course in Wheaton, Ill.  To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago.  Exit I-294 at Winfield Road north in Naperville, Ill.  Follow Winfield Road for about two and one-half miles, going past both Warrenville Road and Butterfield Road.  Turn right at Mack Road, and the facility will be on the left, about a mile down Mack Road.
