2012 Carthage Men’s Lacrosse Travel Plans

 

Feb. 24-25 vs. Hendrix and Mount Ida:  The Feb. 24 Hendrix College game and the Feb. 25 Mount Ida College contest will both be played at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., which is north of Little Rock, Ark.  Follow I-265 around Chicago and exit at I-65 south toward Nashville, Tenn.  Exit I-65 at I-40 west to Little Rock.  Continue on I-40 through Little Rock.  Exit I-40 at Harkrider Street (exit 125, I-65 Business Route).  Follow Harkrider Street about a half-mile to campus.

 

March 3 at the University of the South:  To reach the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., follow I-94 through Chicago.  Exit I-84 at I-57 south.  Exit I-57 at I-24 south of Mount Vernon, Ill.  From St. Louis, Mo.,  follow I-64 east to I-57 north of Mount Vernon.  Follow I-24 south of Nashville, Tenn.  Approximately 85 miles south of Nashville, exit I-24 at U.S. Highway 41/64 west to Sewanee.  Turn right at University Avenue and right at Mitchell Avenue to reach campus.

 

2012 Spring Trip to Mount St. Jospeh, Berry, Piedmont and Hanover:  Carthage begins its spring trip with a March 17 game at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio.  To reach Mount St. Joseph, follow I-94 through Chicago.  Exit I-94 at I-90 east (the Chicago Skyway).  Exit I-90 at I-65 south.  Exit I-65 at I-865 outside of Indianapolis.  That highway becomes I-465 east.  Exit I-465 at I-70 east to Dayton, Ohio.  Exit I-70 at I-75 south to Cincinnati.  Exit I-75 at Freeman Avenue (exit 1F) and go through two stop lights.  Turn right at U.S. Highway 50 west/River Road.  Take the exit for the Sixth Street viaduct and merge left onto Sixth Street.  Proceed west on River Road for approximately two miles and turn right at Fairbanks Avenue.  Fairbanks becomes Delhi Road.  Follow Delhi Road to campus and the Harrington Student Center and the athletic complex. 

 

The second stop on the trip is Berry College on March 21.  To reach Berry College, which is located in Mount Berry, Ga., near Rome, Ga., north of Atlanta.  From I-75 south, exit at U.S. Highway 411/Georgia Highway 20 west.  Exit at U.S. Highway 267 north and go through Rome.  In Mount Berry, Ga., the road becomes U.S. 27/Georgia Highway 1/Martha Berry Highway.  Go past Veteran Memorial Parkway/State Loop 1 and turn left at Fairfield Drive to reach Berry College.

 

The third stop is Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga., northeast of Atlanta.  To reach Piedmont from Berry College, follow I-75 north toward Atlanta.  Exit I-75 at I-285 east.  Exit I-285 at I-85 east.  Exit I-85 at I-985 toward Gainesville, Ga.  Near Gainesville, I-985 ends and becomes Georgia Highway 365 north.  Follow Georgia 365 about 44 miles to U.S. 441/Georgia Highway 105 business route north and take that five miles into Demorest.  Turn on Georgia Street to reach the athletic complex.

 

Hanover College on March 24 is the final game of the trip.  To reach Hanover, which is located in Hanover, Ind., from Georgia, return to I-75 north toward Chattanooga, Tenn.  Exit I-75 at I-24 toward Nashville, Tenn.  Exit I-24 at I-65 north toward Louisville, Ky., and Indianapolis, Ind. Exit I-65 at Indiana Highway 56 east (exit 29).  Follow Highway 56 for 19 miles to college entrance.

March 31 at Fontbonne:  Fontbonne University plays its home lacrosse games at Gay Field, near its campus in St. Louis, Mo.,  To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-55 south toward St. Louis, Mo.  Follow I-55 across the Mississippi River into St. Louis and take I-64/U.S. 40 west of downtown.  Exit I-64/U.S. 40 at Clayton Road.  Turn right (north) at South Big Bend Boulevard and turn left at Wydown Boulevard.  Turn right at Hanley Road.  Turn left at Maryland Avenue, which becomes Ladue Road.  Turn right at Gay Avenue to reach the field.

 

April 19 at Concordia (Wis.):  To reach Concordia University (Wis.) in Mequon, Wis., follow I-94 north to downtown Milwaukee.  At the I-94/I-794 junction, continue north on I-43 towards Green Bay, Wis. Exit at Wisconsin Highway 167 east (about 20 miles north of downtown Milwaukee).  Turn right off the ramp.  Just past the railroad tracks, turn left at Lakeshore Drive North.  Follow Lakeshore Drive about two miles to the campus.  After you enter campus, stay to the left and go through a building overpass to reach John Buuck Fieldhouse, and the Falcon Soccer/Lacrosse Field is adjacent to that facility.

April 21 at Albion:  To reach Albion College in Albion, Mich., follow I-94 through Chicago.  Exit I-94 at I-80 east (Indiana Tollway).  Exit I-80 at I-94 east into Michigan.  Follow I-94 past Marshall, Mich., and exit at the I-94 business route (Exit 121) into Albion, Mich.  Highway 99 becomes Michigan Avenue in Albion.  Turn south on Hannah Street and go through the campus.  Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium is on the east side of Hannah Street, between the Kalamazoo river and the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks.

 

April 22 at Alma:  To reach Alma College in Alma, Mich., from Albion College, return to I-94 east toward Jackson, Mich.  Exit I-94 at U.S. Highway 127 north to Lansing, Mich.  Exit U.S. 127 will merge with I-496 near Lansing.  Continue on north of Lansing and exit at U.S. 27 north toward St. Johns, Mich.  Alma is 41 miles north of Lansing and 29 miles north of St. Johns.  In Alma, turn right on North Luce Road (before the intersection of Highway 46 and U.S. Highway 27).  Follow Luce Road approximately two miles and turn left on West Lincoln Road.  Alma College will be on the right.

 

April 28 at Augustana (Ill.):  To reach Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., follow I-88 west from Chicago (I-88 becomes Illinois Highway 5 after once past I-80).  Follow Highway 5 until 38th Street in Rock Island (not 38th Street in Moline).  Follow 38th Street about one mile and turn left at 14th Avenue.  Turn right at 30th Street and Thorson-Lucken Field will be on the right, just past 12th Avenue.
