2009 Carthage Men’s Lacrosse Travel Plans
Feb. 7 vs. Davenport/Marquette Club: Carthage will play Davenport University and the Marquette University club team at the McCook Athletic & Exposition in McCook, Ill. To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at Ogden Avenue east (U.S. Highway 34, south of Cermak Road). Follow Ogden Avenue for 2.6 miles to East Avenue and turn right. Follow East Avenue for less than a mile to Vernon Street and turn right.
Feb. 14 vs. Illinois Club and Feb. 21 vs. St. John’s (Minn.) Club: Carthage will play the University of Illinois and St. John’s University (Minn.) club teams and the Lake Barrington Field House in Lake Barrington, Ill. To reach that facility, take I-294 to Lake-Cook Road east. Follow Lake-Cook Road about 10 miles and turn right on U.S. Highway 12 (Rand Road). Follow U.S. 12 about three miles and turn left at Cuba Road. Turn right at U.S. Highway 14 and turn right at Pepper Road to reach the facility.
Feb. 26-28 vs. Alvernia and Gwynedd-Mercy: Carthage will play Alvernia College and Gwynedd-Mercy College at Gwynedd-Mercy College in Gwynedd Valley, Pa., which is just north of Philadelphia. To reach the college, follow the Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania Turnpikes. Exit the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Fort Washington (exit 339). Follow Route 309 north and turn left at Norristown Road in Spring House. The college is two miles ahead on the right.
March 7-8 at Fontbonne and Lindenwood: Fontbonne University plays its home lacrosse games at Gay Field, near its campus in St. Louis, Mo., To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill. Exit I-294 at I-55 south toward St. Louis, Mo. Follow I-55 across the Mississippi River into St. Louis and take I-64/U.S. 40 west of downtown. Exit I-64/U.S. 40 at Clayton Road. Turn right (north) at South Big Bend Boulevard and turn left at Wydown Boulevard. Turn right at Hanley Road. Turn left at Maryland Avenue, which becomes Ladue Road. Turn right at Gay Avenue to reach the field. To reach Lindenwood University, located in St. Charles, Mo., from Fontbonne, return to I-64 and go west. Exit I-64 at I-270 north. Exit I-270 at I-70 west. Exit I-70 at Missouri Highway 94 east, which becomes First Capitol. Turn left at Kings Highway and Lindenwood is on the left. Follow the drive to other end of campus, the athletic complex and Harlen C. Hunter Stadium.
March 16-19 vs. Washington & Jefferson, Birmingham-Southern and Hendrix: Carthage will play Washington & Jefferson College and Birmingham-Southern College at the Birmingham-Southern Athletic Complex in Birmingham, Ala. To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-80 east. ExitI-80 east at I-65 south. Follow I-65 through Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. Exit I-65 in Birmingham, Ala., at I-20/I-59 west. Exit I-20/I-59 at Arkadelphia road (exit 123). Turn left off the ramp and drive over the interstate. The college will be on the right as you reach the top of the hill. Hendrix College is located in Conway, Ark., which is north of Little Rock, Ark. To reach Conway from Birmingham, return to I-65 and follow that north to Nashville, Tenn. Exit I-65 at I-40 west to Little Rock. Continue on I-40 through Little Rock. Exit I-40 at Harkrider Street (exit 125, I-65 Business Route). Follow Harkrider Street about a half-mile to campus.
March 28 at Trine: To reach Trine University in Angola, Ind., follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-80 east. I-80 becomes the Indiana Toll Road. Follow the toll road most of the way through Indiana and exit at I-69 just west of the Ohio state line. Exit I-69 at Angola/LaGrange exit #148). Go east about two and one-half miles to University Avenue and the main campus.
April 4 at Colorado College: Colorado College is located in Colorado Springs, Colo. , about 60 miles south of Denver. To reach Colorado College, follow I-80 through Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska. At the Nebraska-Colorado state line, exit I-80 for I-76 to Denver. In Denver, exit I-76 at I-25 south to Colorado Springs.
April 19 at Adrian: To reach Adrian College in Adrian, Mich., follow I-94 into Chicago, Ill. Exit I-94 at I-90 east (Chicago Skyway) and follow to I-80 east (Indiana Toll Road). Stay on I-80 as it becomes the Ohio Toll Road and exit I-80 at Indiana Highway 109 north (Exit 3B). Indiana Highway 109 becomes Michigan Highway 52. Follow Highway 52 into Adrian, which is about 10 miles north of the state line. U.S. 52 becomes Main Street in Adrian. Go past the malls and turn left at Beecher Street. Turn right at Madison Street to reach campus.
April 25 at Oberlin: Oberlin College is located in Oberlin, Ohio, which is just west of Cleveland To reach the college, follow the Indiana and Ohio Toll Roads. Exit the Ohio Toll Road at Ohio Highway 58 south and follow eight miles into the town of Oberlin. Turn right at East Lorain Road and follow for three blocks to reach the athletic complex.
