2007-08 Carthage Swimming Travel Plans

Oct. 27 at Wabash (men only):  To reach Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-57 south.  Exit I-57 south at I-74 east.  Exit I-74 at U.S. Highway 231 (Washington Street) in Crawfordsville.  Go three blocks and turn right at Wabash Avenue.  Go four blocks and turn right at Crawford Street to reach the Class of 1950 Natatorium, which is located within the Allen Athletics and Recreation Center.

Oct. 27 at Illinois Wesleyan “CCIW Halloween Classic” (women only):  To reach Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-55 south to Bloomington, Ill.  Exit I-55 at Business U.S.-51 south and go past Illinois State University.  Turn left on Emerson Street and cross westbound U.S.-51 to Illinois Wesleyan campus and the Shirk Center/Fort Natatorium.

Nov. 9 at Lake Forest College:  To reach Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill., follow U.S. Highway 41 south from Kenosha and turn left on Deerpath Road.  Follow Deerpath through the Lake Forest business district and across the railroad tracks.  Stay on Deerpath and at the next stop sign you’ll be facing the entrance to North Campus facing the entrance to the College's North Campus.  Turn right on Sheridan Road.  Go past the entrance for the middle campus and go past Rosemary Road on the right.  Turn right on Maplewood Road, and the Sports Center is on your left.

Nov. 16-17 at Kalamazoo College:  To reach Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich., follow I-94 through Chicago, Ill.  Take the Chicago Skyway to I-80 east.  Exit I-80 east at I-94 east.  Exit I-94 at U.S. Highway 131 north, just west of Kalamazoo.  Exit U.S. 131 at Stadium Drive east.  Follow Stadium Drive into Kalamazoo and past Western Michigan University.  Just past WMU's Waldo Stadium, go though one stop light and turn left at Academy Street (just before a Burger King).  The Anderson Athletic Center is on the left, just past the railroad tracks.

Jan. 12 at Northwestern:  To reach Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., follow I-94 toward Chicago.  Exit I-94 at Skokie Blvd. and turn left at the Lake Avenue stop light.  Go east on Lake Avenue to Green Bay Road and turn right.  Continue south on Green Bay Road and turn left at Central Street.  Follow Central Street until the road dead ends and turn right at Sheridan Road.  At the next stop light, turn left at Lincoln Street.  After a sharp right turn, the Norris Aquatics Center in on the left, with parking on the right.

Jan. 18-19 at the Grinnell College Invitational (women only):  To reach Grinnell College, follow I-294 south around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-88 west toward Iowa.  Exit I-88 at I-80 west toward Des Moines, Iowa.  The Grinnell exit, exit #182, is about 120 miles west of the Mississippi River.  At exit  182, take Iowa Highway 146 north for three miles into Grinnell.  Turn right at U.S. Highway 6 and turn left at Park Street.  The athletic complex and Obermiller Pool is on 10th Avenue between Park Street and East Street.

Jan 19 at Kenyon College (men only):  To reach Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, follow I-294 around Chicago.  Exit I-294 at I-80/94 east and stay on I-80 east in Indiana.  Continue on I-80 east, the Indiana Toll Road and later the Ohio Toll Road.  East of Sandusky, Ohio, Exit I-80 at U.S. Highway 250 south to Norwalk.  Follow U.S. 250 for 18 miles and go south on Ohio Highway 13 in Fitchville, Ohio.  Follow Highway 13 through Mansfield, Ohio, and another 27 miles to Mount Vernon, Ohio.  In Mount Vernon, follow South Main Street and go east on Ohio Highway 229, also known as East Gambier Street, for about five miles to reach Gambier.  Kenyon is located near the intersection of Highway 229 and Ohio Highway 308.  Turn at Highway 308 and go east at Wiggin Street for about 100 yards.  Turn right at Duff Street, and the Kenyon Athletic Center is at the end of Duff Street.

Jan. 26 at the University of Chicago:  To reach the University of Chicago, follow I-294 south and exit at I-94 east to downtown Chicago.  Exit I-94 at I-55 north to Lake Shore Drive south.  Exit Lake Shore Drive at 53rd Street west.  Go eight blocks and turn left at Woodlawn Avenue.  Go two blocks and turn right at 55th Street.  Turn left at Ellis Avenue, and the Ratner Athletic Center’s Myers-McLoraine Pool will be on your right.  Free parking is available after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends in the parking structure located at 55th Street and Ellis.
