2012 Men's Tennis Travel Plans
Feb. 4 vs. Michigan Tech and St. Norbert: The Feb. 4 Michigan Tech match will be played at the Four Seasons Tennis Club in Green Bay, Wis. To reach that facility, follow I-94 north to Milwaukee. Exit I-94 at I-43 north to Green Bay. Exit I-43 at Wisconsin Highway 172 west. Exit Wisconsin 172 at Wisconsin Highway 57 south for De Pere (Riverside Drive, should be a sign for St. Norbert College). Turn left on Riverside Drive, and the club is on the right, about four miles down at 3600 Riverside Drive. The St. Norbert match will be played at the Western Racquet Club, also in Green Bay. To reach that facility, return to Highway 172 west and cross the Fox River. Turn right at South Ashland Avenue, and the club is located at 2500 S. Ashland.
Feb. 10-11 vs. Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Carleton.: The Feb. 10 Wisconsin-Eau Claire match and the Feb. 11 Carleton College contest will be played St. Teresa Tennis Center in Winona, Minn., the indoor home of the St. Mary’s University (Minn.) tennis team. To reach Winona, take I-94 north to Milwaukee, Wis. Exit I-94 at I-894 around downtown Milwaukee. Follow I-94 west to Madison, Wis., and follow I-90/94 north of Madison. Where I-90 and I-94 split, near Tomah, Wis., follow I-90 west toward LaCrosse, Wis. Cross the Mississippi River and go another two miles. Exit I-90 at U.S. Highway 14/61 north. Follow U.S. 14/61 for about 12 miles into Winona. Where the two highways separate, take a hard right onto Gilmore Avenue. Turn left at Villa Street, and the tennis facility is near the intersection of Villa and Howard Street.
Feb. 18 vs. Wisconsin-La Crosse and /Ripon.: Carthage will play Wisconsin-La Crosse and Ripon College at Centre Court in Fond du Lac, Wis. To reach that facility, follow I-94 north to Milwaukee. Follow the I-894 bypass around Milwaukee. Exit I-894 at U.S. 41/45 north. Follow U.S. 41 north to Fond du Lac, Wis. Exit U.S. 41 at Johnson Street and turn right. At the first light (Frontage Road), turn left. Centre Court is behind the shopping center.
Feb. 25 vs. Coe and Wartburg: Carthage will play Coe College and Wartburg College at Coe’s Clark Racquet Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-88 west. Exit I-88 at I-80 west just east of Moline, Ill., and follow I-80 over the Mississippi River. Continue on I-80 past Iowa City, Iowa, and exit I-80 at I-380 north. Follow I-380 approximately 16 miles into Cedar Rapids. Exit I-380 at Iowa Highway 100 east in Cedar Rapids. Turn right at First Avenue, NE. Turn right again at College Drive. The Clark Racquet Center is located at College Drive and C Avenue.
March 3 vs. Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Lawrence.: Carthage will play Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Lawrence University at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center (640 E. County Trunk Y) in Oshkosh, Wis. To reach that facility, follow I-94 north to Milwaukee. Exit I-94 at I-894 around Milwaukee. Exit I-894 at U.S. Highway 45 north. Exit U.S. 45 at U.S 41 north. Exit U.S. 41 at Jackson Street (Wisconsin Highway 76). Stay right at the fork in the road, follow the signs for Oshkosh, Wis., and merge onto Jackson Street. Turn left at County Road Y, and the tennis center is on the left, about 1.5 miles.
March 10 vs. Lake Forest and Wisconsin-Whitewater: Carthage will play Lake Forest College and Wisconsin-Whitewater at the Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn, Wis. To reach that facility, follow Wisconsin Highway 50 past Lake Geneva, Wis., and into Williams Bay, Wis. In Williams Bay, go north on Wisconsin Highway 67, which becomes South Lincoln Street in Elkhorn. Turn right at East Morrissey Drive, and the club is located at 351 E. Morrissey Drive.
March 17-24 in Orlando, Fla.: The team will leave campus on Saturday, March 17 at 11:45 a.m. and fly from Mitchell Field in Milwaukee, Wis., to Orlando, Fla., via Southwest Airlines, leaving Milwaukee at 2:55 p.m., CDT and arriving in Orlando at 6:35 p.m., EDT. The team will stay at the Marriott Residence Inn in Altamonte Springs, Fla. (270 Douglas Ave., 404-788-7991) and return home on Saturday, March 24, leaving Orlando at 7:45 a.m., EDT and arriving in Milwaukee at 9:30 a.m., CDT.
March 31-April 1 at the Wabash Tournament: To reach Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill. Exit I-294 at I-57 south. Exit I-57 south at I-74 east. Exit I-74 at U.S. Highway 231 (Washington Street) in Crawfordsville. Go three blocks and turn right at Wabash Avenue. Go four blocks and turn right at Crawford Street. The Collett Tennis Center is located in the rear of the athletic complex. The team will leave campus on Friday, March 26 at 1 p.m., and stay overnight at the Holiday Inn Express in Crawfordsville, Ind. (2506 N. Lafayette Road, 765-232-4574).
April 6 vs. Westminster (Mo.) and Lindenwood-Belleville: Carthage will play Westminster College (Mo.) and Lindenwood University-Belleville at the latter’s outdoor tennis courts in Belleville, Ill. To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-55 south to St. Louis. Exit I-55 at I-255 south. Exit I-255 at Illinois Highway 15 east. Exit Highway 15 at the Frank Scott Parkway west. Turn right onto North Belt Street west and turn right again onto West Main Street. The tennis courts are adjacent to West Main Street and adjacent to the main entrance.
April 7 at Principia: To reach Principia College in Elsah, Ill., follow I-294 south around Chicago and exit at I-55 south to St. Louis, Mo. Approximately 65 miles south of Springfield, Ill., exit I-55 at Illinois Highway 140 west. Follow Highway 140 into Alton, Ill. At U.S. Highway 67 (Alby Street), turn left. Follow Alby Street until it dead ends at McAdams Parkway (Illinois Highway 100) and turn right. Follow Highway 100 approximately eight miles and turn right at the Elsah exit. Follow the signs in town for Principia College. The college has a gated security area. Ask directions there for the tennis courts.
April 21 vs. Augustana (Ill.) and Dubuque: Carthage will play Augustana College and the University of Dubuque at the Augustana (Ill.) tennis courts in Rock Island, Ill. To reach that facility, follow I-88 west from Chicago (I-88 becomes Illinois Highway 5 after once past I-80). Follow Highway 5 until 38th Street in Rock Island (not 38th Street in Moline). Follow 38th Street two miles, down a hill and turn left on 7th Avenue, then an immediate right into the football field parking lot.
April 27 at North Central (Ill.): To reach North Central College in Naperville, Ill., follow I-294 south to I-88 (East-West Tollway). Go west on I-88 and exit at Naperville Road. Turn right (south) at the bottom of the ramp and follow Naperville Road several miles south. Turn right at Chicago Avenue and continue for several miles. Turn left on Brainard and follow the road to the right to North Central College’s athletic complex.
May 4-5 at the CCIW Championship: Augustana College (Ill.) will play host to the 2012 CCIW Men’s Tennis Championship at either its own courts or at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill., depending on weather conditions. To reach the Augustana (Ill.) courts, follow the April 21 directions above. To reach the latter facility, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-88 west (I-88 becomes Illinois Highway 5 after once past I-80). Go past I-74 and turn left at the next light (16th Street in Moline). Go past the shopping mall on the left and turn right on 47th Avenue. The Quad City Tennis Club is at 1522 47th Avenue.
