2008 Men's Tennis Travel Plans
Feb. 16-17 in Winona, Minn.: The Feb. 16 Luther College match and the Feb. 17 Carleton College contest will be played St. Teresa Tennis Center in Winona, Minn., the indoor home of the St. Mary’s University (Minn.) tennis team. To reach Winona, take I-94 north to Milwaukee, Wis. Exit I-94 at I-894 around downtown Milwaukee. Follow I-94 west to Madison, Wis., and follow I-90/94 north of Madison. Where I-90 and I-94 split, near Tomah, Wis., follow I-90 west toward LaCrosse, Wis. Cross the Mississippi River and go another two miles. Exit I-90 at U.S. Highway 14/61 north. Follow U.S. 14/61 for about 12 miles into Winona. Where the two highways separate, take a hard right onto Gilmore Avenue. Turn left at Villa Street, and the tennis facility is near the intersection of
Villa and Howard Street.
Feb. 23 at Coe College: The team will leave campus on Friday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m., stay overnight at the Country Inn & Suites (4747 1st Avenue, SE, 319-393-8800) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and return on Saturday, Feb. 23. To reach Coe College in Cedar Rapids, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-88 west. Exit I-88 at I-80 west just east of Moline, Ill., and follow I-80 over the Mississippi River. Continue on I-80 past Iowa City, Iowa, and exit I-80 at I-380 north. Follow I-380 approximately 16 miles into Cedar Rapids. Exit I-380 at Iowa Highway 100 east in Cedar Rapids. Turn right at First Avenue, NE. Turn right again at College Drive. The Clark Racquet Center is located at College Drive and C Avenue.
March 14-20 in Orlando, Fla.: The team will leave campus on Friday, March 14 at 6 a.m. and fly from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Orlando, Fla., via United Airlines, leaving Chicago at 8 a.m., CST and arriving in Orlando at 11:32 a.m., EST. The team will stay at the Marriott Residence Inn in Altamonte Springs, Fla. (270 Douglas Ave., 404-788-7991) and return home on Thursday, March 20, leaving Orlando at 7:40 p.m., EST and arriving in Chicago at 9:35 p.m., CST.
March 28 vs Wheaton (Ill.): The Carthage-Wheaton College (Ill.) match will be played at the College Park Racquet Club in Deerfield, Ill. That facility is located at I-294 and Half Day Road, just west of Trinity International University.
March 29-30 at the Wabash Tournament: To reach Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill. Exit I-294 at I-57 south. Exit I-57 south at I-74 east. Exit I-74 at U.S. Highway 231 (Washington Street) in Crawfordsville. Go three blocks and turn right at Wabash Avenue. Go four blocks and turn right at Crawford Street. The Collett Tennis Center is located in the rear of the athletic complex. Hotel arrangements TBA.
April 15 at Lake Forest: The team will leave campus at 2:15 p.m. and return immediately following the conclusion of the match. To reach Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill., follow U.S. Highway 41 south from Kenosha and turn left on Deerpath Road. Follow Deerpath through the Lake Forest business district and across the railroad tracks. Go through a stop sign, stay on Deerpath and turn right on Sheridan Road. Go past the entrance for the middle campus and go past Rosemary Road on the right. Turn right on Maplewood Road, and the Sports Center is on your left. The tennis courts are located behind the Sports Center.
April 18 at Wisconsin-Whitewater: The team will leave campus at 7 a.m. and return immediately following the conclusion of the Noon match versus Olivet Nazarene University. To reach the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, take Wisconsin Highway 20 west of Racine. Go past I-43 and East Troy, where Highway 20 joins with U.S. Highway 12. Follow U.S. 12 into Whitewater and go through downtown. Turn right on North Prairie Street. Turn left on Stadium Drive to reach the athletics complex and the Williams Athletic Center. The tennis courts are just south of the Williams Center.
April 25-26 at the CCIW Men’s Tennis Championship in Bloomington, Ill: Elmhurst College will play host to the 2008 CCIW Men’s Tennis Championship at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Ill. To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill. Exit I-294 at I-55 south to Bloomington. Exit I-55 at Veterans Parkway. Turn left at Washington Street, which dead ends in the parking lost of the Evergreen Racquet Club. The team will leave campus on Thursday, April 24, stay overnight on April 24-25 at the Country Inn & Suites in Normal, Ill. (923 Maple Road, 309-662-3100) and return on April 26 following the conclusion of the championship.
