2008 Carthage Men’s Track and Field Travel Arrangements

 

March 29 at the University of Chicago “Ted Heydon Invitational”:  To reach the University of Chicago, follow I-294 south and exit at I-94 east to downtown Chicago.  Exit I-94 at I-55 north to Lake Shore Drive south.  Exit Lake Shore Drive at 53rd Street west.  Go eight blocks and turn left at Woodlawn Avenue.  Turn right onto 55th Street and proceed to Cottage Grove Avenue--you will see Stagg Field on your left.  Turn left onto Cottage Grove Avenue, then turn left onto 56th Street.  The entrances to Stagg Field will be on your left.  Free parking is available after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends in the parking garage located at the corner of 55th Street and Ellis Avenue.  The garage is available to visitors for a fee at all other times.  Free parking is also available on the street.  Parking rules are strictly enforced.  Please observe all signs in parking areas and on the street.

 

April 3-5 at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championship:  North Central College is the host school for the 2008 Chicagoland Outdoor Track and Field Championship.  To reach North Central in Naperville, Ill., follow I-294 south to I-88 (East-West Tollway).  Go west on I-88 and exit at Naperville Road.  Turn right (south) at the bottom of the ramp and follow Naperville Road several miles south.  Turn right at Chicago Avenue and continue for several miles.  Turn left on Brainard and follow the road to the right to North Central College’s athletic complex and Cardinal Stadium.

 

April 12 at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Invitational:  To reach Wheaton College (Ill.) in Wheaton, Ill.,, follow I-294 to I-88 (East-West Tollway).  Exit at Naperville Road and go left at the bottom of the ramp.  Follow Naperville Road north to Roosevelt Road and turn right.  Go three or four blocks to Chase Street and turn left.  Cross railroad tracks and McCully Field is on the right.

 

April 19 at the Augustana College (Ill.) “Meet of Champions”:  To reach Augustana College (Ill.) in Rock Island, Ill., follow I-88 west from Chicago (I-88 becomes Illinois Highway 5 after once past I-80).  Follow Highway 5 until 38th Street in Rock Island (not 38th Street in Moline).  Follow 38th Street two miles, down a hill and turn left on 7th Avenue, then an immediate right into the Ericson Field parking lot.

 

April 26 at the Drake Relays:  Carthage will send a partial squad to the Drake Relays.  To reach Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-88 west to the Quad Cities area.  Near East Moline, Ill., exit I-88 at I-80 west to Des Moines.  In Des Moines, exit I-80 at Iowa Highway 415 south (22nd Avenue).  Cross the Des Moines River and turn right at University Avenue.

 

April 26 at the Wisconsin Private College Championship:  Carthage will send a partial squad to the 2008 Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Ripon College in Ripon, Wis.  To reach Ripon College, take I-94 to Milwaukee, Wis.  Exit I-94 at I-894 west.  Exit I-894 at U.S. 45 north, which merges into U.S. 41 north in northwest Milwaukee.  Follow U.S. 41 to Fond du Lac, Wis., and exit at Wisconsin Highway 23 west to Ripon, Wis.  Stay on Wisconsin 23 into Ripon (the highway turns into Fond du Lac Ave.).  At the Blackburn Street stop sign, turn left.  Blackburn curves to the right and becomes Thorne Street.  Go about five blocks and the Storzer Physical Education Center will be straight ahead.  Ingalls Field is behind the fieldhouse.

 

May 2-3 at the CCIW Outdoor Championship:  North Park University is the host school for the 2008 CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship.  To reach North Park in Chicago, Ill., follow I-94 toward Chicago.  Exit at Cicero Avenue and turn left at first light (Foster Avenue).  Follow Foster Avenue about two miles to reach the campus, which is at the corner of Foster and Kedzie Avenue.  The Holmgren Athletic Complex is two blocks beyond campus on the right.

 

May 9 at the North Central "Dr. Keeler" Invitational:  Follow the April 3-5 directions above.

 

May 16 at the North Central "Last Chance" Invitational:  Follow the April 3-5 directions above.
