2011-12 Carthage Women’s Basketball Travel Plans

Nov. 18-19 at the Wisconsin Lutheran “Dunn’s Sporting Goods Tip-Off Tournament”:  The Lady Reds will leave campus at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 and return following the game.  Departure time on Saturday, Nov. 19 at either 10:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.  To reach Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee, Wis., take I-94 north to Milwaukee, Wis.  Exit I-94 at I-894 west and exit I-894 at U.S. Highway 45 north toward Fond du Lac, Wis.  Exit U.S. 45 at Bluemound Road east (left off the ramp).  Turn left at 89th Street and turn right at Wisconsin Avenue.  The Wisconsin Lutheran Recreation Complex (REX) is located on the south side of Wisconsin Avenue between 89th and 87th Streets.

 

Nov. 22 at Benedictine (Ill.):  The team will leave campus at 2:30 p.m. and return following the game.  To reach Benedictine University (Ill.) in Lisle, Ill., follow I-294 south around Chicago.  Exit I-294 at I-88 west.  Exit I-88 west at I-355 south.  Go past the first exit for Ogden Avenue and exit at Maple Road west.  Go through four stop lights (Primrose Avenue, Illinois Route 53, Patton Drive and Burr Oak Road.  Turn left at the fifth stop light (College Avenue).  Benedictine University is on the right.  Take the first drive into the parking lot for the Dan & Ada Rice Center.

 

Nov. 27 at the University of Chicago:  The team will leave campus at 11:30 a.m. and return following the game.  To reach the University of Chicago, follow I-294 south and exit at I-94 east to downtown Chicago.  Exit I-94 at I-55 north to Lake Shore Drive south.  Exit Lake Shore Drive at 53rd Street west.  Go eight blocks and turn left at Woodlawn Avenue.  Go two blocks and turn right at 55th Street.  Turn left at Ellis Avenue, and the Ratner Athletic Center will be on your right.  Free parking is available after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends in the parking garage located at the corner of 55th Street and Ellis Avenue.  The garage is available to visitors for a fee at all other times.  Free parking is also available on the street.  Parking rules are strictly enforced.  Please observe all signs in parking areas and on the street.

 

Dec. 7 at Loras:  The team will leave campus at 11 a.m. and return following the game.  To reach Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, take Wisconsin Highway 50 west from Kenosha to Lake Geneva.  In Lake Geneva, take U.S. Highway 12 to I-43 and follow I-43 into Beloit (I-43 becomes Milwaukee Road in Beloit).  Follow Wisconsin Highways 81/11 west to Monroe, Wis., where the two road split.  Stay on Highway 11 west toward Dubuque, Iowa.  Just east of the Mississippi River, Highway 11 ends at U.S. Highway 61.  Follow Highway 61 south across the river and into Dubuque, where it becomes Kemper Boulevard and then East Ninth Street.  Turn right at Central Avenue (U.S. Highway 52 north).  Go five blocks and turn left at Loras Boulevard.  Follow Loras Boulevard for about one-half of a mile and turn right at Cox Street.  The Loras Fieldhouse will be on the left.

 

Dec. 28-29 at “D3hoops.com Classic” in Las Vegas, Nev.:  The team will leave campus on Monday, Dec. 26 at 4:45 p.m. and fly from Mitchell Field in Milwaukee, Wis., to Las Vegas, Nev., via Frontier Airlines flight #479, leaving at 7:50 p.m., CST and arriving at 9:41 p.m., MST.  The team will stay at the South Point Casino (9777 Las Vegas Boulevard, South, 702-796-7111), the official site of the “D3hoops.com Classic, from Dec. 26 to Dec. 29.  Following a Tuesday, Dec. 27 game versus DeSales University and a Thursday, Dec. 29 contest against Wisconsin-River Falls, both at the South Point Arena, the team will fly home on Friday, Dec. 30 via Frontier flight #762, leaving Las Vegas at 9:49 a.m., changing planes in Denver, Colo., to flight #374, leaving at 3:08 p.m., MST and arriving in Milwaukee at 6:20 p.m., CST.

 

Jan. 4 at North Central:  The team will leave campus at 2 p.m. and return following the game.  To reach North Central College in Naperville, Ill.,, follow I-294 south to I-88 (East-West Tollway).  Go west on I-88 and exit at Naperville Road.  Turn right (south) at the bottom of the ramp and follow Naperville Road several miles south.  Turn right at Chicago Avenue and continue for several miles.  Turn left on Brainard and follow the road to the right to North Central College’s athletic complex and Merner Fieldhouse/Gregory Arena. 

 

Jan. 14 at Illinois Wesleyan:  The men’s and women’s teams, traveling together, will leave campus at 11:30 a.m. and return following the completion of the men’s game.  To reach Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill.,, follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-55 south to Bloomington, Ill.  Exit I-55 at Business U.S.-51 south and go past Illinois State University.  Turn left on Emerson Street and cross westbound U.S.-51 to Illinois Wesleyan campus and the Shirk Center.

 

Jan. 18 at Wheaton (Ill.):  The team will leave campus at 2 p.m. and return following the game.  To reach Wheaton College (Ill.) in Wheaton, Ill., follow I-294 to I-88 (East-West Tollway).  Exit at Naperville Road and turn left at the bottom of the ramp.  Follow Naperville Road north for approximately six miles to Roosevelt Road and turn right.  Turn left at the President Street traffic light.  Cross the railroad tracks and go past College Avenue.  Turn left at University Street, which dead-ends at Chase Street, just north of the student center.  Turn right at Chase to reach the Sports and Recreation Complex parking lots. 

 

Jan. 21 at Augustana (Ill.):  The men’s and women’s teams, traveling together, will leave campus at 10:30 a.m. and return following the completion of the men’s game.  To reach Augustana College (Ill.) in Rock Island, Ill., follow I-88 west from Chicago (I-88 becomes Illinois Highway 5 after once past I-80).  Follow Highway 5 until 38th Street in Rock Island (go past 38th Street in Moline).  Turn right on 38th Street and follow for two miles, down a hill and turn left on 7th Avenue, then an immediate right into the Carver Physical Education Center parking lot.

 

Feb. 1 at North Park:  The team will leave campus at 4:30 p.m. and return following the game.  To reach North Park University in Chicago, Ill., follow I-94 toward Chicago and exit at Cicero Avenue.  Turn left at first light (Foster Avenue).  Go two or three miles to reach campus and the North Park Gymnasium on the right, at the corner of Foster and Kedzie.

 

Feb. 4 at Millikin:  The men’s and women’s teams, traveling together, will leave campus at 8 a.m. and return following the completion of the men’s game.  To reach Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-55 south to Bloomington.  Exit I-55 at I-74 east in Bloomington.  Exit I-74 at U.S. Highway 51 south to Decatur.  Follow Business U.S. 51 to El Dorado Street (U.S. Highway 36) and turn right.  Turn left on Oakland and follow to the Griswold Center. 

 

Feb. 15 at Elmhurst:  The team will leave campus at 4:30 p.m. and return following the game.  To reach Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., follow I-294 south.  Exit I-294 at I-290 west and exit immediately at North Avenue (Illinois Highway 64).  Follow North Avenue into Elmhurst and go past York Road.  After York road, take the third left (Maple Avenue).  Follow southbound Maple Avenue across the railroad tracks and turn right at the first street (Walter Street).  R.A. Faganel Hall faces Walter Street on the right.
