2012 Softball Travel Information

Feb. 24-25 at the “Superior Dome Tournament”:  The team will leave campus on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 a.m. and return on Saturday night, Feb. 25, with an overnight stay at the Country Inn and Suites in Marquette, Mich.  (2472 U.S. Highway 41 West).  To reach the Superior Dome in Marquette, follow I-94 north through Milwaukee.  Exit I-94 at I-43 north to Green Bay, Wis. In Green Bay, exit I-43 at U.S. Highway 141 north to Iron Mountain, Mich.  In Iron Mountain, exit U.S. 141 at U.S. Highway 2/41 east to Escanaba, Mich.  Continue on U.S. 2/41 to Rapid River, Mich.  In Rapid River, follow U.S. 41 north to Marquette.  In Marquette, U.S. 41 becomes South Front Street.  Continue on Front Street and turn left at West Washington Street.  Turn right at North 4th Street, which becomes Presque Isle Avenue, and continue for 14 blocks to reach the Superior Dome.

Spring Trip--March 17-24:  The team will leave campus on Friday, March 17 and fly from Mitchell Field in Milwaukee, Wis., via Southwest Airlines flight #472, leaving at 1:15 p.m., CDT and arriving in Phoenix, Ariz., at 3:15 p.m., PST.  The team will stay at the Radisson Suites in Tucson, Ariz. (6555 E. Speedway Blvd.) from March 17-23 and return to Milwaukee via Southwest flight #1132, leaving Phoenix on Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m., PST and arriving in Milwaukee at 3:40 a.m., CDT. 

March 29 at St. Mary’s (Ind.):   To reach St. Mary’s College (Ind.) in Notre Dame, Ind., follow I-294 around Chicago, Ill.  Exit I-294 at I-80/I-90 east and follow the Indiana Toll Road to South Bend, Ind.  Exit the Indiana Toll Road at Notre Dame/South Bend exit (#77).  Turn left at the stop light onto Indiana Highway 933/U.S. Highway 31 Business Route.  Turn right at the first stop light onto Douglas Road.  Go by The Inn at Saint Mary’s and turn right at the first stop sign onto Madelva Drive.  Parking lot entrance for the Angela Athletic Facility is on the left, just past Havican Lane.

April 3 at Ripon:  To reach Ripon College, take I-94 to Milwaukee, Wis.  Exit I-94 at I-94 west.  Exit I-894 at U.S. 45 north, which merges into U.S. 41 north in northwest Milwaukee.  Follow U.S. 41 to Fond du Lac, Wis., and exit at Wisconsin Highway 23 west to Ripon, Wis.  Stay on Wisconsin 23 into Ripon (the highway turns into Fond du Lac Ave.).  At the Blackburn Street stop sign, turn left.  Blackburn curves to the right and becomes Thorne Street.  Go about five blocks and the Storzer Physical Education Center will be straight ahead.  Tracy Field is located behind the Storzer Physical Education Center.

April 11 at Wheaton (Ill.):  To reach Wheaton College (Ill.) in Wheaton, Ill., follow I-294 to I-88 (East-West Tollway).  Exit at Naperville Road and go left at the bottom of the ramp.  Follow Naperville Road north for approximately six miles to Roosevelt Road and turn right.  Turn left at Chase Street (no signal or stop sign), which comes before the next signal light at President Street.  Cross railroad tracks and go past the football field is on the right.  Go through one stop sign, and Leedy Field is on the right.

April 14 at Millikin:  Millikin University plays its home softball schedule at Rotary Park in Decatur, Ill.  To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago.  Exit I-294 at I-55 south to Bloomington, Ill.  Exit I-55 at U.S. 51 south to Decatur, Ill.  Follow Business U.S. 51 through and past downtown Decatur.  Go past Lake Decatur on the south side of town and follow the signs for Pana, Ill.  The complex is on the left, about one mile past Lake Decatur.

April 19 at North Park:   To reach North Park University in Chicago, Ill.,, follow I-94 toward Chicago.  Exit at Cicero Avenue and turn left at first light (Foster Avenue).  Go two or three miles to reach campus, and the Holmgren Athletic Complex is two blocks beyond campus on the right.

April 25 at Illinois Wesleyan:  To reach Illinois Wesleyan University, take I-55 south to Bloomington, Ill.  Exit on Business U.S. 51 south and go past Illinois State University.  Turn left on Emerson Street and cross westbound U.S. 51 to Illinois Wesleyan campus.  The softball field is behind the Shirk Athletic Center, north of Wesleyan Field and east of Franklin Boulevard.
