2011-12 Carthage Women's Tennis Travel Plans

 

Sept. 3 at the Wisconsin-Whitewater “Warhawk Invitational”:  The team will leave campus at 6:45 a.m. and return following the completion of the tournament.  To reach the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, take Wisconsin Highway 20 west of Racine.  Go past I-43 and East Troy, where Highway 20 joins with U.S. Highway 12.  Follow U.S. 12 into Whitewater and go through downtown.  Turn right on North Prairie Street.  Turn left on Stadium Drive to reach the athletics complex and the Williams Athletic Center.  The tennis courts are just south of the Williams Center.

 

Sept. 18 at Millikin and Illinois Wesleyan  The team will leave campus on Saturday, Sept. 17  with hotel arrangements TBA.  To reach Millikin University, follow I-55 south to Bloomington.  Exit I-74 east in Bloomington and go to U.S. Highway 51 south to Decatur.  Follow Business U.S. 51 to El Dorado Street (U.S. Highway 36).  Go past Oakland Avenue and the football field.  El Dorado veers off to the right and becomes Illinois Highway 36.  Take the first left, at McClellan Street, and go into Fairview Park, where Millikin plays its home tennis matches.  To reach Illinois Wesleyan from Millikin, return to U.S. 51 north.  In Bloomington, Ill., follow U.S. 51 business route through north through town.  Turn right on Emerson Street to the Illinois Wesleyan campus.  The Beadles-Morse Tennis Courts are on the left, adjacent to Jack Horenberger Field and the Shirk Athletic Center.

 

Sept. 20 at Wheaton (Ill.):  The team will leave campus at 2 p.m. and return following the match.  To reach Wheaton College (Ill.) in Wheaton, Ill., follow I-294 to I-88 (East-West Tollway).  Exit at Naperville Road and turn left at the bottom of the ramp.  Follow Naperville Road north for approximately six miles to Roosevelt Road and turn right.  Turn left at the President Street traffic light.  Cross the railroad tracks and go past College Avenue.  Turn left at University Street, which dead-ends at Chase Street, just north of the student center.  Turn right at Chase to reach the Sports and Recreation Complex parking lots and the tennis courts.

 

Sept. 23-25 at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament:  The team will leave campus on Thursday, Sept. 22 with hotel arrangements TBA.  To reach Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.,  take I-94 north to Milwaukee, Wis.  Exit I-94 at I-894 west around downtown Milwaukee and follow I-94 west toward Madison, Wis.  At Madison, follow I-90/04 west.  Just east of Tomah, Wis., the interstate splits.  Follow I-90 west toward La Crosse.  Stay on I-90 west into Minnesota and go past Rochester, Austin and Albert Lea, Minn.  Forty miles west of Albert Lea, exit I-90 at U.S. Highway 169 north toward Mankato.  Follow U.S. 169 north past Mankato 11 miles to St. Peter.  Follow U.S. 169 into St. Peter, where it becomes Freeman Drive and then South Minnesota Avenue.  Turn left at College Avenue, and Gibbs Tennis Courts are located on the right, at the top of the hill.  Turn left at the top of the hill for parking, which is on the right.  Driving time between Kenosha and St. Peter is approximately seven hours.

 

March 17-24 in Orlando, Fla.:  The team will leave campus on Friday, March 17, stay at the Marriott Residence Inn in Altamonte Springs, Fla. (270 Douglas Ave., 404-788-7991) and return home on Saturday, March 24

 

April 22 at Lake Forest:  To reach Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill., follow U.S. Highway 41 south from Kenosha and turn left on Deerpath Road.  Follow Deerpath through the Lake Forest business district and across the railroad tracks.  Stay on Deerpath and at the next stop sign you’ll be facing the entrance to North Campus facing the entrance to the College's North Campus.  Turn right on Sheridan Road.  Go past the entrance for the middle campus and go past Rosemary Road on the right.  Turn right on Maplewood Road, and the Sports Center is on your left.  The tennis courts are located behind the Sports Center.

 

May 4-5 at the CCIW Women's Tennis Team Automatic Qualifier Tournament:  The 2011-12 CCIW Women’s Tennis Automatic Qualifier Tournament will be played at the at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill.  To reach that facility, follow I-294 around Chicago.  Exit I-294 at I-88 west (I-88 becomes Illinois Highway 5 after once past I-80).  Go past I-74 and turn left at the next light (16th Street in Moline).  Go past the shopping mall on the left and turn right on 47th Avenue.  The Quad City Tennis Club is at 1522 47th Avenue.
