2011 Carthage Women’s Volleyball Travel Plans
Sept. 2-3 at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire “Labor Day Classic”: The team will leave campus on Friday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. and return on Saturday, Sept. 3 following the tournament. To reach that Wisconsin-Eau Claire, take I-94 north to Milwaukee, Wis. Exit I-94 at I-894 west around Milwaukee. Exit I-894 at I-94 west. Follow I-94 to Eau Claire, Wis. Exit I-94 at Wisconsin Highway 53 north (Exit #52). Exit Highway 53 at Claremont Avenue (U.S. Highway 12, exit #87) and go west 2.1 miles to University Drive. Turn right at University Drive, and the McPhee Physical Education Center will be on the right.
Sept. 9-10 at the Washington (Mo.) “National Invitational”: The team will leave campus on Friday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. and return on Saturday, Sept. 10 following the tournament. Overnight hotel on Friday, Sept. 10 at the Sheraton Clayton Plaza (7730 Bonhomme Ave., 314-863-0400). To reach Washington University, follow I-294 around Chicago. Exit I-294 at I-55 south to St. Louis. Follow I-55 across the Mississippi River into St. Louis and take I-64/U.S. 40 west of downtown. Exit I-64/U.S. 40 at Clayton Road. Turn right (north) on Skinker and go one mile to Forsyth and turn left. Go through campus to the last driveway on the right (Olympian Way), just before the football field. Follow Olympian Way to the athletic complex.
Sept. 13 at North Park: The team will leave campus at 4 p.m. To reach North Park University in Chicago, Ill., follow I-94 toward Chicago and exit at Cicero Avenue. Turn left at first light (Foster Avenue). Go two or three miles to reach campus and the North Park Gymnasium on the right, at the corner of Foster and Kedzie.

Sept. 21 at the University of Chicago: The team will leave campus at 2:30 p.m. and return following the match. To reach the University of Chicago, follow I-294 south and exit at I-94 east to downtown Chicago. Exit I-94 at I-55 north to Lake Shore Drive south. Exit Lake Shore Drive at 53rd Street west. Go eight blocks and turn left at Woodlawn Avenue. Go two blocks and turn right at 55th Street. Turn left at Ellis Avenue, and the Ratner Athletic Center will be on your right. Free parking is available after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends in the parking garage located at the corner of 55th Street and Ellis Avenue. The garage is available to visitors for a fee at all other times. Free parking is also available on the street. Parking rules are strictly enforced. Please observe all signs in parking areas and on the street.
Sept. 27 at Elmhurst: The team will leave campus at 2 p.m. and return following the match. To reach Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., follow I-294 south. Exit I-294 at I-290 west and exit immediately at North Avenue (Illinois Highway 64). Follow North Avenue into Elmhurst and go past York Road. After York road, take the third left (Maple Avenue). Follow southbound Maple Avenue across the railroad tracks and turn right at the first street (Walter Street). The Elmhurst College Physical Education Center faces Walter Street on the right.
Oct. 7-8 at the Wisconsin-Platteville Tournament: To reach Wisconsin-Platteville, follow Wisconsin Highway 50 past Lake Geneva, Wis. Exit Highway 50 at I-43 west to Beloit, Wis. Just before Beloit, exit I-43 at Wisconsin Highways 11/81 east. Follow Highway 11 for 81 miles until it ends at Wisconsin Highway 84. Take Highway 84 north for 12 miles into Platteville, Wis. In town, take U.S. Highway 151 west. Exit U.S. 151 at Highway D (exit #18). Turn left at Gridley Street, which runs into Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. Williams Fieldhouse is adjacent to the stadium. Travel plans TBA.
Oct. 14-15 at the Calvin/Hope “Midwest Invitational” at Hope College: To reach Hope College, follow I-94 east from Chicago and into Michigan. Exit I-94 at I-196. Exit I-196 at U.S. Highway 31 (exit #44). At the U.S. 31 and I-196 business exit, keep to the left for Washington Avenue, which becomes Michigan Avenue and then becomes River Avenue. Proceed to 16th Street and turn right. Turn left at Fairbanks Avenue, go past DeVos Fieldhouse on the right and turn left on E. 13th Street to reach the Dow Health & Physical Education Center. Oct. 21-22 at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament III: The team will leave campus on Friday, Oct. 22 at Noon and return on Saturday, Oct. 23 following the tournament. Overnight Hotel on Friday, Oct. 22 at the America’s Best Value Inn in Whitewater, Wis. (917 E. Milwaukee Street, 262-473-8818). To reach Wisconsin-Whitewater, take Wisconsin Highway 20 west of Racine. Go past I-43 and East Troy, where Highway 20 joins with U.S. Highway 12. Follow U.S. 12 into Whitewater and go through downtown. Turn right on North Prairie Street. Turn left on Stadium Drive to reach the athletics complex and the Williams Athletic Center.
Oct. 25 at Augustana (Ill.): To reach Augustana College (Ill.) in Rock Island, Ill., follow I-88 west from Chicago (I-88 becomes Illinois Highway 5 after once past I-80). Follow Highway 5 until 38th Street in Rock Island (go past 38th Street in Moline). Turn right on 38th Street and follow for two miles, down a hill and turn left on 7th Avenue, then an immediate right into the Carver Physical Education Center parking lot. Travel plans TBA.
