Carthage business students can enrich their studies by getting involved in a number of student organizations dedicated to supporting business students, exploring future careers and celebrating student achievement. These organizations give business students the opportunity to practice what they've learned in the classroom.
The Carthage Accounting Association sponsors field trips and speakers, hosts resume workshops, and organizes volunteers for income tax preparation assistance. The association works to develop community contacts and enhance the education of accounting majors outside the classroom.
The Business Honors Society is a pace-setting organization for business students with a 3.2 GPA or higher. Students practice management and leadership skills, meet business executives, and gain experience that will enhance a future career in the business world.
VITA is an IRS program that offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Students who want to volunteer for VITA must complete training and take a certification test. Students then spend a day or two gaining valuable knowledge in preparing tax returns as they perform an important community service.
