The Western Heritage Film Festival presents the second film in its fall series. The Return will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in Niemann Media Theatre.
The Return (2003, 1 hr. 45 mins.; in Russian w/ English subtitles) was directed by Andrei Zvyagintsev and is one of the finest examples of 21st century Russian Cinema. It follows a father who returns after being gone for 12 long years. Now he's taking his children along on a strange, mysterious
journey that they don't understand, and will never forget.
The film that
resonates strongly (and mysteriously) with the works students have been
reading this fall in the Western Heritage course.
Western Heritage students and faculty are especially encouraged to
attend, but all members of the Carthage community are welcome. Admission is free.
Sponsored by the Western Heritage program.
