Carthage College declares and affirms a policy of equal employment opportunity, and nondiscrimination in the provision of educational and other services to the public. Carthage College will make all decisions regarding admission of students, hiring of employees, and all other terms and conditions of employment and educational opportunity without discrimination on the grounds of race, sexual orientation, color, creed or religion, gender, national origin, age, physical or mental handicap, or other factors which cannot be a lawful basis for an employment or educational decision. The Vice President for Administration located in Lentz Hall 434 (262-551-6200) is the Title IX and Section 504 coordinator of the College. Students with questions about procedures for filing a complaint of discrimination are encouraged to contact The Dean of Students in the Todd Wehr Center, (262-551-5800).

Any student may file a complaint or request a review of any incident, policy or act of the College or a member of the Carthage community when a discriminatory act is perceived or alleged. When the allegation involves the actions of a student or student group, a signed, written statement should be filed with the Dean of Students. The written statement must be filed within 10 days of the incident and include the date of the incident, the names of the individuals involved, and specifics about the Incident. The Dean of Students will appoint two members of the professional staff of the Dean of Students Office to investigate the allegation in accordance with the judicial procedures set forth in the Carthage Student Community Code. The Dean and the appointed committee members will respond to the person filing the complaint within five business days. Unless written notice is provided by the committee to the individual filing the complaint with an estimated date for completion of an investigation, the investigation will be completed within five days of the initial response to the complaint.

Students wishing to file a statement alleging discrimination by a faculty or staff member should submit the signed statement to the Vice President for Administration. The statement must be filed within 10 days of the alleged incident and will be investigated according to the procedures found in the Employee Handbook. In accordance with Title IX and Section 504, all employees retain the right to file a grievance with the Office of Civil Rights if they feel that the College has not responded appropriately to their concerns.
