The Barry Goldwater Scholarship was established to honor Senator Goldwater's long service to his country. The intent is to encourage highly qualified undergraduate students to pursue careers in the mathematics, natural science or engineering fields. The awards are for a maximum of two years with annual financial support of up to $7,500.
A committee reviews all nominations and selects most outstanding from each state for consideration by the Foundation Board of Trustees. The committee assesses a candidate's academic performance and evaluates the individual's potential for and commitment to a career in mathematics, the natural science or engineering.
