Career Services

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship was established to honor Senator Goldwater's long service to his country. The intent is to encourage highly qualified undergraduate students to pursue careers in the mathematics, natural science or engineering fields. The awards are for a maximum of two years with annual financial support of up to $7,500.

Eligibility

  • U.S. Citizen or resident alien
  • G.P.A. 3.0
  • Full-time sophomore or junior
  • Pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education

Application Procedure

  • Meet with the Carthage Faculty Representative for the Goldwater Scholarship
  • 600 word essay
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official high school and college transcripts
  • A completed and signed, Institution Nomination and Eligibility Form
  • Nomination information must be submitted by the Faculty Representative.

General Selection Criteria And Procedures

A committee reviews all nominations and selects most outstanding from each state for consideration by the Foundation Board of Trustees. The committee assesses a candidate's academic performance and evaluates the individual's potential for and commitment to a career in mathematics, the natural science or engineering.
