Carthage is home to a chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national honorary society is for those students who have displayed
superior academic achievement in mathematics. The society aims to
promote the development of mathematics and provides opportunities for
involvement in the mathematics community at both the local and national
level.
Since 1992, the mathematics department has published a math journal, Sine on the Dotted Line.

2002. Graduates pursuing actuarial positions earned an average of
$42,450. Starting salaries for underwriters averaged $34,857 and
consultants earned $46,250 on the national average.
