Catholics at Carthage

We are a welcoming community for Catholic students on campus. With the guidance of the Catholic campus minister, we provide opportunities for students to gather in worship receive the Sacraments, participate in devotions and special prayer services, pursue catechetical formation, assist in service projects for the College and the wider community, and interact socially with other campus Catholics. Two community priests, Father Alfredo Turco and Father Stephen Forrest, share the sacramental duties and travel to Carthage each Sunday evening to say Mass, offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and perform any other necessary sacramental ministries. (See Mass schedule.)

Catholics at Carthage receive tremendous support on campus. Every year, for example, the 10 p.m. Ash Wednesday Mass is very well attended.

Student leaders serve as musicians, lectors, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. During the month of October we offer weekly rosaries, which are dedicated to Mary, the mother of Jesus. During the season of Lent we offer weekly Stations of the Cross in the Joan C. Potente Chapel. We also offer Confirmation classes for those students who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
