The Carthage Chapel Series

2011-2012

Sundays

Vesper Prayers
10 p.m., Potente Memorial Chapel (Oaks Complex)
Chapel supervised, student led: music, meditation, prayer.

Tuesdays

Faculty, staff, student conversations
11:30—12:20 a.m., Niemann Theatre (lower level, Library)
General theme: "Religious/ethical challenges in my field." The presenter will speak for 15 minutes and then, with a moderator, open the session to dialogue. Surprising, gripping problems that cannot be fit into classroom syllabi. Come to meet the real person behind the teacher. Bring a lunch; soft drinks will be provided. (Watch chapel bulletin boards for schedule).

Wednesdays

Chapel
10:30 a.m., Siebert Chapel
A 20-minute service of song, prayer, scripture: The traditional mid-week moment when all offices close to recognize the right of every Carthage community member to a period of reflection. Student statements; the best of Carthage Music Department; brief homily on the common lectionary. All religions welcome.

Holy Communion Service
11 a.m., Siebert Chapel
A brief spoken service of Holy Communion following the Lutheran tradition (all are welcome). This follows the regular service each week, for those who wish and whose schedules permit. Gluten-free bread is normal, non-alcoholic wine offered.

Fridays

Meditation and Reflection
10:30 a.m., Fritsch Memorial Chapel (across from Lentz Hall)
A 20-minute period for silent meditation and reflection. Chaired by faculty members.
