Chapel
Religious Life Ministries
Carthage encourages the development of a personal spiritual
identity by its students through a variety of religious life
ministry programs. A Roman Catholic Mass is offered on Sunday
evenings at 8:45 p.m. The Fritsch Meditation Chapel is open
for prayer from 8 a.m. until Midnight every day. In addition,
students are encouraged to act upon their faith by participating
in one or more of the groups listed below. They may contact
the College Pastor for further information.
Please look at the Chapel Series
link for a description of other Chapel programs and worship
opportunities.
CUMBYA -- The name stands for Carthage
Undergrads Making Big
Youth Activities. The group
encourages and prepares its members to engage in on-site youth
ministry events (primarily lock-ins and drop-ins) for junior
and senior high youth in southeastern Wisconsin congregations.
Through facilitating these events, CUMBYA members have experienced
growth in their own faith as Christians and confidence in
sharing their faith stories with young people as a way of
encouraging and strengthening local youth ministry programs.
Open to professing Christians of all denominations, CUMBYA
meets at 9:30 p.m., Monday in the Ehrler Chapel.
GOSPEL
MESSENGERS -- A choir that reaches out to the campus
and broader community by sharing the lively sounds of gospel
music.
INTER-VARSITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP -- An evangelical Christian
movement that ministers to students at over 700 colleges and universities in the United States. IVCF
is non-denominational. The emphasis on fellowship in IVCF fosters a non-threatening atmosphere of support and understanding in which
members can grow in their faith and knowledge of Scripture. The Carthage chapter meets for large group fellowship weekly.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY -- Carthage has its own chapter of
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) which helps with local endeavors, building and
repairing area homes. Students take a trip during spring break to join other college chapters in home-building projects.
CATHOLIC FELLOWSHIP -- Roman Catholic
students meet weekly for Mass, and join state and national Catholic student coalitions to build stronger relationships spiritually as
well as with one another.
CHRISTIAN MINISTRY COUNCIL -- Strives to
bring unity to the campus community through Christ-centered
social events and worship opportunities.
LUTHERAN STUDENT MINISTRIES -- Seeks to
unite Lutheran students and maintain ties with Lutheran traditions
of worship, learning, service and mission.
