Pastoral Care and Support

The College Pastor is on the roster of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is available to all Carthage students, faculty and staff for confidential pastoral care including private counseling.

The College Pastor is the Reverend Dr. Harvard Stephens, Jr., who serves as the dean of Siebert Chapel.  He can be reached at 262-551-5812 or by e-mail at hstephens@carthage.edu.  Pastor Stephens works full-time to provide pastoral leadership at Carthage.  He organizes the regular chapel programs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 to 10:55 a.m. as well as the Sunday evening worship services.   He also participates in meetings of the faculty and in the activities of many student and community organizations.

The College Pastor is available to the Carthage community throughout the week, and appointments are encouraged.  His office hours during the academic year are on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Carthage also employs Mrs. Edith Padgett as the Catholic Campus Minister.  Mrs. Padgett coordinates student ministries and weekly Sunday mass for the Catholic community on campus.  She can be reached by telephone at 262-551-5811 or by email at epadgett@carthage.edu.
