Become a Friend of the Center

Join the Friends of the Center and become an integral participant in center activities. The Friends Group was established when the center opened in 2004. Members are invited to contribute to the mission of the center through volunteer work, attending center events, and making financial contributions.

What Friends Do

  • Tell other people interested in books and literacy about the Center for Children's Literature at Carthage.
  • Help with mailings and upcoming events.
  • Help set up events and act as hosts for visiting authors and illustrators.
  • Provide transportation for visiting authors and illustrators.
  • Serve as guest reviewers for our book review column on the center web site.

Membership benefits

  • Library Card. Each member of the Friends of the Center receives a library card to borrow items from the collection.
  • Director’s Newsletter. Members receive regular newsletters that include news of past and upcoming events and activities.
  • Invitations. Members receive invitations to special receptions to meet guest authors and illustrators.
