The course focuses on a major prose author or prose genre (history, oratory, biography, etc.) Authors may include Cicero, Livy, Nepos, Tacitus, etc.

The course focuses on a major poet or genre in poetry. Authors may include Virgil, Horace, the Elegiac poet (Ovid, Catullus, etc.) It may also focus on a poetic genres such as epic poetry, satire, letters (Horace),
elegy, etc.
