EMERGENCY PLAN – KOENITZER AQUATIC CENTER

 

1. ATC and Head Athletic Training Student stays with athlete

-stabilize head/neck
-primary survey—airway, breathing, circulation
-initiate emergency plan—assign assistant athletic trainer to call EMS
-secondary survey—bleeding, shock, first aid

2. Assistant ATC/athletic training student calls EMS & Carthage College Security:

--EMS
      -use mobile phone—call 911
      -radio athletic training room and instruct to call 9-911
      -use office phone—call 9-911

****Quickly and clearly state****
“I have an emergency in the Carthage TARC Pool and need an ambulance.”

--SECURITY
     -request they meet the ambulance at the South campus entrance off Alford Park Drive (Sheridan
      Road); direct EMS to the first building on the left.
     -use mobile phone—262-551-5911
     -use athletic training room phone-call 5911
     -use radio on Channel 8 (only available on ATC radios)

3. Caller sends bystander to meet ambulance at entrance.

4. Head coach is responsible to keep other athletes away from the injured athlete.

5. Order of athlete accompaniment to hospital:
      -Any parent/guardian, extra ATC, Sr. ATS, Jr. ATS, Assistant Coach

 

Emergency Equipment: First aid supplies, splints, and cervical collar on field; AED & oxygen in ATR (if not already on field); EMS will board if necessary

Hazardous Weather: In case of inclement weather, all are required to move to the lower level of the TARC immediately and follow the hazardous environmental plan.
