The Future is Bright for Chemists

The study of chemistry is excellent preparation for many careers both scientific and otherwise. Chemistry is the study of substances in our world, such as the paper and ink in this brochure, the food we eat, the gasoline we use in our automobiles, and the rubber in our tires. In fact, many careers that are considered to be in other areas such as biotechnology, drug design, or materials science are in fact applied chemistry! Because the study of chemistry imparts skills and knowledge valued in the job market, the employment outlook for chemists is bright. Between now and 2008, continued growth in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, personal care, and specialty chemicals signals an increasing demand for chemists.
