Our Mission
To support public education for all students and the continuation of a strong professional association, the mission of the Student WEA is to provide its members a voice in matters affecting their education and careers by offering opportunities for leadership, professional growth, and involvement at the local, state and national levels.
Why should you be involved in Student-WEA?
No matter what year you are in college, Student WEA can offer you a great deal. Student WEA is affiliated with Wisconsin's larger professional association, WEAC (Wisconsin Education Association Council) and the NEA (National Education Association). Membership entitles students to valuable benefits.
For Freshmen and Sophomores there is a chance to network, develop leadership skills and gain priceless professional experience. Additionally, it is imperative for Juniors and Seniors, while student teaching or during practicum, to be insured with the same liability insurance that all teachers have.
All members receive subscriptions to yearly, monthly, and quarterly publications from all different levels of the organization. Everyone gains leadership abilities, a voice, and a sense of purpose in the education field. Together in our annual Outreach to Teach Project we help schools who are in desperate need due to revenue controls. Students also experience how being an active member really affects our ability to make a difference in the classroom.
