Mr. Donald Hedberg

After spending ten years as an instructor at the University of Illinois-Chicago,
Donald D. Hedberg became president of Science Related Materials in Janesville, Wisconsin.
In 1977, he and his wife, Geraldine, started Lab Safety Supply, Inc., a direct marketing
company for safety products. Over the years, along with handling administrative
responsibilities, Hedberg invented and designed numerous safety and environmental products.
In a 14-year period, the business grew to sales of over $117 million by 1991.
In 1992, the Hedbergs sold the company to W.W. Grainger, Inc.
Currently, Hedberg is the Director of the Hedberg Foundation in Janesville, Wisconsin,
and along with his wife is active in philanthropic causes. He founded the Health and
Emotion Research Institute at the University of Wisconsin and is chairman of its advisory
board. He is a Carthage Trustee, founding chairman of the College's Natural Sciences
Advisory Committee, and serves on the advisory board of ScienceWorks. Hedberg remains
active in small business, advising entreprenuers and emerging companies on strategies for
growth. |
Dr. Douglas Arion

Douglas Arion served as an Assistant Vice President and Manager of the Applied Physics and
Engineering Division of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) from 1989
to 1994. As Division Manager, he was responsible for marketing and managing over $6 million
in Division business. At SAIC, Arion specialized in the development of diagnostic
instrumentation, design and fielding of experiments and tests, and theoretical and
numerical analyses.
Arion currently is a Consulting Employee and continues to support major experimental and
marketing efforts. Listed in Who's Who in the West, American Men and Women of Science, and
Who's Who of Business Leaders, Arion holds a patent on the Blast Induced Emission of
Radiation (BIER) Gage (US Patent 5,315,364). He is a member of the American Physical
Society, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement
of Science.
Arion earned his A.B. in physics from Dartmouth College and his M.S. and Ph.D. in physics
from the University of Maryland. He joined the Carthage faculty in 1994. |
