About the Festival . . .

Each year the Carthage Music Department Choral Arts Program invites high schools within a 100 mile radius to bring their choirs to its annual Lakeside Choral Festival. This year's festival will be held on Thursday, November 3, and is led by clincians Dr. Michael Burkhardt, Director of the Carthage Choir - College Organist, and Dr. Peter Denee, Director of Choral Activities at Carthage.

Each school may sign up its choir for a 45-minute choral performance/clinic session during which time it may sing 3-4 pieces of its own choosing. In addition, schools may elect to register their choral singers for private or group voice lessons with members of the Carthage voice faculty. Those choirs that can be on campus during the lunch hour are invited to participate in an informal concert at which each choir may share one of their prepared choral works. Those choirs that can be on campus until 4:30 p.m. are invited to participate with the Carthage Choir in its afternoon rehearsal.

The cost of the event with lunch in the college dining halls is $3.50 per student; without lunch $2.00 per student. Participation and scheduling in the day-long event is on a first-come-first-served basis. Registration fees are required in advance, payable to Carthage College, by October 1, 2005.
