The Jazz Ensemble is the primary vehicle for jazz performance on campus, and utilizes the instrumentation of the traditional big band, as well as smaller jazz combos.
Students in the jazz program study and perform music in a wide-range of styles, both on and off campus. Membership is by audition.

The Jazz Ensemble regularly performs with guest artists from the region, further enhancing the program of study for Carthage students. The photo above is from the concert of April 2008, with flutist Nicole Mitchell.
