
The Carthage Chamber Orchestra performs music written for string orchestra as well as works for small chamber orchestra. Recent composers performed include Barber, Biber, Copland, Ellington, Gould, Hanson, Haydn, Holst, Husa, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Purcell, Vaughan Williams and Warlock.
The 2009-10 season includes Music for Movies by Copland, Mozart's Piano Concerto, K. 414 with Stephen Swedish as soloist/conductor, Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oaks Concerto with the Fifth House Ensemble and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Concerto Grosso with students from the Chamber Orchestras of Tremper High School, Bradford High School and the Lakeshore Youth Philharmonic.
An exceptional opportunity also exists for musicans to perform in small chamber ensembles, including several string quartets.
Rehearsals are scheduled from 3:45 to 4:50 Monday through Thursday.
