Matthew D. Saucedo

Beginning in 1997 Matthew Saucedo became the Director of the Carthage Pep Band. From 1998 to 2004 Matthew served the college full time as the Student Success Coordinator, which concentrated in the areas of student retention, advising and Hispanic recruitment. In addition, Matthew is the founder and advisor for Latinos Unidos, a campus organization that focuses on educating the student body on various Hispanic cultures pertaining to historical events, traditions, religions and customs of different Latin American cultures. As for his previous work experience and academia, Matthew earned a B.A. from Carthage College in 1996 where he majored in Business Administration, International Business, and Spanish. From 1996 to 1998 he worked at the Kenosha Spanish Center as the Gang Prevention Coordinator for at-risk inner-city youth, during this time he also served as the Assistant Director. While working at the center he received his A.O.D.A counseling certification. Once returning to Carthage in 1998, he entered graduate school and in May of 2003, he earned a M.A. in Education and Modern Language from Carthage College. Presently, Matthew continues to work as the Director of the Carthage Pep-Band. However, in 2004 he received a full-time middle school teaching job at Lake Bluff Middle School, IL where he teaches sixth grade Spanish. In addition, he tutors Spanish outside of school, working with a few select major companies in the Illinois area.On a lighter note: Matthew continues to express his musical talents as a guitarist and lead vocalist for the band called "Reliable Source" an original contemporary rock band that recently has signed with DB Records out of the Southwest Wisconsin region.

Derek Galvicius

Graduated in 2000 from Carthage College with a major in Music Education. He was an active member in the music department and the music fraternity Lambda Kappa. Presently, Derek is a music teacher in Illinois and works part-time as a Pep-Band Director for Carthage.
