Carthage SPS

The American Institute of Physics has selected the Carthage chapter of the Society of Physics Students as an outstanding SPS chapter for the 2001-2002 school year. Fewer than 5 percent of the chapters across the country are honored—less than one per state. Chapters are selected based on the depth and breadth of SPS activities conducted in physics research, public science outreach, physics tutoring programs, hosting and representation at physics meetings, and providing social interaction for chapter members.

SPS Brings Physics to Kenosha Area Schools

Members of the Carthage College chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) visited Kenosha area middle and high schools to present physics and astronomy demonstrations . The demos deal with light and its wave properties.  Areas explored include the visible light spectrum using spectroscopes, measuring the speed of light, diffraction gratings, as well as an explanation of why the sky is blue.
