4:40 pm   Arrive Havana. After passing through Immigration and Customs, transfer with Havanatur guide to the Hotel Plaza in Old Havana.
5:00 pm   Check in to Hotel Plaza. Evening free.

Monday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
9:00 am   Meet at the Center for the Study of the Cuban Economy. Presentation on the present realities of the Cuban economy. Opportunity for discussion of current Cuban economic realities and the future of Cuba following an eventual lifting of the U.S. embargo.
Mid day   Return to Hotel Plaza. Lunch on your own.
Afternoon Independent research.

Tuesday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning  Discussion with specialists in issues of Gender and poverty at the Center for Psychological and Sociological Research.
Mid day Depart for the Zapata Swamp, to the Zapata National Park.
Afternoon Depart for Playa Girón and check in to the Hotel Playa Girón. Dinner at the Hotel.

Wednesday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning Visit to museum commemorating the failed Day of Pigs invasion. Opportunity to explore the surrounding area and the beach.
Lunch on your own
Afternoon Depart for Santa Clara. Continue past the city to the foothills of the Escambray Mountains.
Check in to the Hotel Hanabanilla. Dinner at the hotel.

Thursday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel
Morning Depart for the city of Santa Clara. In Santa Clara, arrangements are pending confirmation either for a visit to the University of Santa Clara or with the local government as well as visits to local organic farms, such as the Mariana Grajales Farm, and other areas of interest.
Afternoon Drive to the City Square, a historic and pleasant plaza that at one time was divided into white areas and black areas and that now is the heart of the city.
Lunch on your own. Independent Research
Evening Stay in the City to interact with people who gather or in the square, or return to the Hanabanilla. Dinner at the hotel (before 7pm).

Friday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning Visit to the Department of Psychology at the University or Polo de Humanidades (Research Center in the Humanities)
Afternoon Break for lunch
3:00 pm Visit to the Che Memorial and Museum to the Martyrs of Latin America.
5:00 pm Return to the Hanabanilla. Dinner at the Hotel

Saturday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning Depart for Trinidad. En route, visit to a sugar mill and to a mill town, for a chance to walk around and observe small town life. Visit to the historic Torre de Iznaga in the Valle de los Ingenios, the Valley of the Sugar Mills.
Late Afternoon Arriving in the town of Trinidad, check in to the Motel Las Cuevas in the hills above the city.
Evening Dinner at the hotel.

Sunday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning Visit the historic center of Trinidad, with a walking tour with a City Specialist. As you wander the city streets, be sure to look into the windows of the old houses at the unique roof structures – the oldest example of truly Cuban architecture in the island. Feel free to talk with the house owners as Trinidad is a house proud city, with the current occupants often the descendants of either the original owners or even the servants or slaves of the original owners, and they will often invite visitors in to see their house.
Afternoon Lunch on your own. Independent research.
Evening Depart for Bay of Ancon. Dinner and overnight at the Ancon Resort.

7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
9:00 am Depart for Cienfuegos. Stop in the city center for an opportunity to explore the beautiful colonial sectors of the city as well as the harbor areas.
Lunch on your own.
Mid day Depart for Havana.
5:00 pm Arrive Havana. Check in to the Hotel Plaza

Tuesday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the hotel.
9:00 am Institute of Philosophy for discussion of issues in Cuba (to be confirmed) or meeting with Lizette Vila, filmaker, who has for many years run a critical and popular show Huron Azul on television and has studied and presented many social issues of the day in Cuba. If confirmed, you will have the opportunity to view some of her films
Mid day Lunch on your own.
Afternoon Independent research.

7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the Hotel Plaza.
9:00 am Meeting with Dr. Carlos Alzuguray, professor of international relations, former diplomat, and specialist in U.S.-Cuban relations.

Thursday
7:30-8:30am Breakfast at the Hotel Plaza and check out.
10:00 am Transfer to the airport. Check in Marazul Charters and pay $25 USD cash tax before passing through immigration to departure gate.
1:25 pm Depart for Miami on OW9529 Marazul Charters.
2:30 pm Arrive Miami. Collect luggage, pass through immigration and Customs
3:00 pm Check in to American Airlines for flight to Chicago.
4:55 pm Depart Miami on AA1861, arriving Chicago at 7:23 pm.
